A pleasant hotel with a large, well-equipped room including a semi-private terrace. It has a cosy bar and reasonable restaurant - I'd describe the food as okay but not as fabulous as it might have been in the setting.

We had dinner in the grand, rather dimly lit, dining room. Very attentive service, good local wine and delicious food (for less than the slightly pretentious Gallery Cafe). Yes, the place is old fashioned and could probably do with bringing up to date, but overall it was a very good experience.

We stopped here after driving the Swartberg Pass. A charming hotel with lovely gardens. We wanted ground level and only the honeymoon suite was available. The room was great and the price reasonable. That evening we ate in the dining room. There is a limited menu, but the food was excellent, as was the service.
