My husband and I had a good experience here. The staff was very friendly, the location was very central - walking distance to everything, the breakfast was really nice on the rooftop patio, beds and rooms were comfortable and clean. We would stay again.

Everyone at the Zenji in Stone Town go the extra mile to make their customers feel right at home. Affordable, clean, lovely rooftop breakfast and extremely obliging staff. A little cool haven amidst the hustle and bustle of a vibrant place. Try it - you won't be disappointed.

I really liked this place. Little touches like homemade soaps and a communal roof terrace (with wifi) made it memorable. We stayed in the treasure chamber room, and the shared bathroom was fine and clean and the room Was locally decorated. Breakfast is standard Tanzanian fare (fruit and eggs) and is filling. Staff were all very helpful during our stay.

Really superb room. It was spacious and well appointed. Very clean and the bathroom was quite nice as well. The help was great and the cafe downstairs was awesome. The rooftop dining area was quite nice as well. The location was great for getting around Stone Town and the tours they offered were well done (did the spice tour package).

The hotel is located far from the center of Stone Town's tourist life, so you usually end up walking along dark streets next to the port of Stone Town, an area famous for crime.
