Great location in Zanzibar on the beach. Easy access to slave market sites, Sultan's Palace etc. Nice pool. Splendid food and poolside entertainment at night with fish and shrimp and crab barbecues. Well trained staff. Overall a great stay. Highly recommended. More

Clean, air conditioned hotel right on the beach. Pool is wonderful! Beware of horrible, loud band that plays right outside restaurant (and your room) until very late some nights. Overall, this is the best option on Zanzibar that is close to shopping and tourism. More

We moved to the Zanzibar Serena Inn after a HORRIBLE experience at the Ras Nungwi beach resort at the other end of the island. We were skeptical based on our hotel experiences in Zanzibar, but chose the Serena Inn, and found it to be perfect - exactly what we were looking for. It is a medium sized hotel, not too... More

We got to Zanzibar on Dec 28th 2011. Spent the first 5 days at the Serena Inn and the last 5 days at the Diamond Dreams of Zanzibar. The Serena Inn was quite nice. Not a 5 star as it would be in New York, but nonetheless it was totally ok. It's right at the ocean in East-Africa...things are different... More

To stay at the Serena inn by mid january 2012, we had reserved directly from their website, and fully prepaid the entire stay, months before our arrival. This rate is cancellable but the hotel immediately charged the whole stay as soon as we reserved. And it costs well more than 300 USD per night all inclusive in this luxurious ressort.... More

It is hard to imagine a better location than that of the Zanzibar Serena Inn in Stone Town, right on the ocean and within walking distance of the center of Stone Town. However, I had not realized that this hotel had no elevators, and there are a lot of stairs if they put you on the third floor! They only... More

Zanzibar Serena Inn was the final stop on our honeymoon and was a great place to both relax and use as a base to explore many parts of Zanzibar. First of all, the location in Stone Town is ideal. Room was great- loved the ocean views from the balcony. The staff was outstanding. They arranged several great itineraries for us--... More

The Serena offers anything you ask for and some things you don't--like a cold face cloth and fresh juice on arrival. Desk Manager Charles, and Concierge Yussuf make sure everything is to your liking. Beautiful pool on the waterside and a rooftop restaurant for starry nights. Room service (food and housekeeping) was excellent. The only place to start and end... More

Sewage smell in the breakfast room? I was surprised when I had this unpleasant smell, when I inquired nobody could answer my question... so I had to look into it myself, there is a open sewage pipe under the restaurant that pours out onto the ocean, it is very very surprising that the hotel has not done anything about it... First and foremost, I would like to thank you for your time and feedback. Further to your comments, please allow me to clarify that the pipe you saw installed under our main restaurant is actually a storm water drainage pipe and not a sewerage pipe. The pipe mainly acts as a drain for clear surface water from Stone town to... More

It's not far of a drive from the airport; you'll get to see a little of Zanzibar on the way. We were a party of (4) four individuals, in two rooms. The outside, as we puuled up was very well maintained and clean. We walked in and WOW. The lobby was wonderful. Check-in was a breeze. And speaking of a... More
