Spent 1 night on way back from Chumbe Island, wish we had not bothered. Room was in serious need of upgrading and bathroom unpleasant with mouldy bath shower that didn't drain - ended up standing in bath of water to shower. If you looking for a nice and quite place for holidays, Mbweni Ruins Hotel thats the one to go. Not a fancy hotel, but with a very good service. You must spend some time to visit the ruins, inside the hotel gardens. From the hotel to Stone Town its just a few minutes, and the Hotel will provide the transport.... More

I was fortunate to take advantage of the wonderful spices of Zanzibar smothered all over my body....added with salt for an exfoliant, ending with palm oil from Zanzibar.The view from the spa is of the sea and lovely - located in the ruins itself.

Couldn't recommend this place enough - paradise location, super friendly staff, gorgeous room and great food. If i get the chance to go back to Zanzibar this is where I will stay. The view from our room couldn't be beaten by anything else!
