This is a lovely place to stay, right on the ultra-charming mediaeval town square. Peaceful, too, at any rate when we were there. Main plus points: the spectacular half-timbered facade; superb breakfast - take it outside on the square rather than the room at the back. Bit of a shame that the inside of the hotel doesn't match up to... More

A wonderful old fashioned (which is a compliment) hotel. We had a beautiful room on the top floor overlooking the square. The stairs wouldnt be great for the less mobile or young childen but for everyone else it is very good for the price - not in the same class as the Relais where we stayed previously but a lot... Comfortable, beautiful rooms, fantastic location and service - we stayed in one of the less expensive rooms in the hotel, la chambre des ecrivains, and it was very comfortable, pretty quiet, and clean, with excellent bathrom facilities. The location is fantastic, being in the medieval square, much of it still in original condition, including carved wooden gargoyles. It's also a... More

Since we first discover La Maison des Consuls we have stayed here each spring. It's a wonderful, antiquated and mysterious building ideally situated in the centre of the town as part of the Couverts. Rooms spotless clean, beautifully furnished and with excellent views over the square. Love the traditional French breakfasts. Altogether a great experience each time we have stayed. More

We were on the pleasures trip around South West France and North East of Spain and though to try something unusual - there was an advise in some guides that Mirepoix is the "hidden Gem of this part of France" - it is truly so!!! And one has to try the hotel Maison de Consuls - just unforgettable experience. The... More

A very pretty and ancient building in a very pretty and ancient town. We stayed in the Astronome suite at about 145 euroes per night. Nice room, interesting roof top views, slightly quiter than looking onto the square which sounds good but can be noisy until late at night (12.30am at least) now and again. Quirky and idiosyncratic; not a... More

This is a great little hotel, with friendly staff and a real sense of place and time. It has creaky floors, less than perfect plumbing, but great french breakfast, atmosphere and a fantastic location in the central square at Mirepoix. More

We had a great three days at this hotel. We did splurge for their nicest room (the astronome) but it was well worth it. We dubbed it 'the palace' since it was so large. Included a nice patio to sit outside. Also very quiet as this room is in the back. Ones on the square may not be as quiet... More

hotel of great character with very very pleasant and helpful staff. we visited 1st October 2004 - three night stay. very pretty town and setting of hotel on what must be one of the prettiest medieval town squares in France. the hotel used to be a gaol in the 14th century but thankfully cells are no longer evident!
