“Old staff was much better, lost it's family friendly vibe.”

When it was Colony IV, we never had a complaint. Housekeeping vacuumed the rooms and made the beds. The pools were closed down at 10 each night. It was very family friendly. I am sorry to read your posting, we do strive for guest satisfaction here at Shutters on the Banks. I apologize for the lack of consideration the teenagers seemed to have caused during your stay. “Check out early!”

Management was rude, told us at check-in that the room we requested and the room we confirmed three days prior to arrival was not available. Responded in a short, rude manner with "we reserve the right to change the room at anytime prior to check-in". OK, I can understand that, but then don't tell me "the room is under renovation".... I am sorry to read your posting, but as we do inform all of our guests, room requests are simply requests we do try to honor but can not guarantee. Our guaranteed time of check in is 4:00PM. In regards to other first floor rooms being ready prior to your check in specific rooms are not guaranteed, room types are.... More

This hotel did not disappoint. Like another reviewer stated when my husband and I visited it was chilly. We really loved our tower room with the ocean view and balcony. A great central location for exploring and beach visiting. Helpful and friendly staff. Room was clean and welll furnished. Stayed two days and had great breakfasts both days. Would stay again on our next outer banks visits.

“Great hotel”

Stayed during off season. It was chilly when we were there. Due to the weather we looked for a hotel with an indoor pool. Service was excellent. Asked for additional towels one morning and before we retuned from breakfast the towels were there and the room cleaned. We will definitely stay here again.

My family and I look forward to staying at Shutters on the Banks. The weather was a bit chilly on this vacation and the indoor pool was perfect for the kids.The rooms are clean and the staff has always been courteous.
