This was the coziest, romantic and relaxing setting possible. The fireplace with a nice crackling fire at night was so relaxing that the rest of the world faded away. Sandee the master of food delivered breakfast every morning hot and fresh and with the sweetest, beautiful smile that I swear it made the food that much better. She prepared a... More

Renting a place online sight unseen, save for a few online pictures, is always a challenge. But we couldn't have been more pleased with our choice to stay at the Black Bear Cottage at Timberwolf Creek. Every little detail is done right. The double-size Jacuzzi tubs in each bathroom, plush robes in the closet, silky fresh sheets, a real fireplace... More

The Black Bear Cottage is the perfect, cozy, romantic escape from reality. Our first trip to the cottage was to get married. We wanted to elope and didn't want any of the hassles of planning a wedding. We couldn't have picked a better place. Sandee and Larry took care of everything which allowed us the opportunity to relax and enjoy... More

We married at TimberWolf Creek last year and stayed at the Black Bear Cottage. Planning this trip from out of state was nerve racking but I am so pleased at how well everything turned out. Sandee and her family/staff were so accomodating. The cottage was straight out of a fairy tale. Tranquility at its finest. The food served was delicious,... More

The smell of the pines, the sounds of the stream, looking up to blue skies and puffy white clouds at the end of tall trees....these are the memories of the outside of the cottage. Awaiting for you inside the cottage is warmth, laughter and great food. A treat for your body and soul. You owe it to yourself to visit... More

The Black Bear Cottage is one of the most romantic spots in North Carolina. The soothing sounds of the creek just behind your bedroom door, the cool breeze coming through the windows, the peace and quiet is Heavenly. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and we will be returning every chance we get. The innkeepers make you feel comfortable and welcome, but... More

What a fabulous way to spend a vacation! The Black Bear Cottage is situated almost on top of the stream and is secluded enough to make you feel like that stream is your very own. The friendliness of the hosts, the superb breakfasts, and all the little extra touches make this place more than just a place to spend the... More

Our hosts were friendly and helpful. The setting is pretty - the breakfasts are really good and a huge amount of food. The cabin is over priced for the state it's in - mechanicals are in need of updating and mildew in the tub/shower curtain. Not sure who "freshens" the cabin but I was surprised what didn't happen. We stay... More

I am so pleased that these guests, like so many others, enjoyed their breakfast, the location, and the little cottage. And thank you so much for saying how friendly & helpful we are! These folks had, however, only reserved the Streamsong Room, and somehow managed to use both the Streamsong, and also the Woodland Room, which had not yet been... More

In order to avoid the stress and cost of an international wedding (we have family from both sides of the atlantic), we chose to elope to Maggie Valley and stayed at Black Bear Cottage. Sandee is a most accommodating host and we were pleased to have found somewhere to stay that was private, beautiful, peaceful and above all, allowed our... More

We rented the whole cabin for a week and just reluctantly left this morning. It feels like you're isolated from the world, yet it's close to lots of restaurants and hiking trails. The cabin is right on the creek and you can hear it rushing by from inside the house. There is a great back porch that wraps around the... More
