Stayed at Bucks House for several nights. Lovely house, cosy bedrooms with TV, wifi, tea and coffee and good shower. Breakfast was nicely cooked and presented and a good selection of food. Owners very friendly and helpful with information about an area that was new to me. Great Bardfield is an attractive old fashioned village with two good pubs.

Recently stayed at the Bucks House just for one night, as we were attending a wedding locally. From the moment we got there, the stay was very enjoyable. Nice welcome from both Nessie and Pete. The house is charming, and full of character, and kept clean with alot of lovely memorabilia dotted around. The room (four poster ) was delightful,... More

My 88 year old mother and I stayed at Bucks House in order to attend her goddaughters wedding in the next village, we arrived on Friday afternoon after a not very speedy drive from south London due to it being the afternoon of the day of the opening ceremony of the Olympics. To walk into the beautiful building that is... More

We needed a B&B to stay overnight after celebrating our son's 50th Birthday Bash in nearby Blackmore End. The party was being held at his house and therefore didn't have a "cut off" time and we were unable to give an accurate time when we would arrive back. Thankfully we chose to contact Bucks House and Nessie & Peter and... More

We stayed in a lovely room with a four poster bed, power shower and a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was excellent and the owners were ok with us coming in at 2 o'clock as we were there for a party. You won't be disappointed with this very nice and well priced B&B.

Booked Bucks House for 1 night, to attend a local dinner and concert. Met by the owner on arrival, and shown to the room. Very nicely decorated room in a delightful period house – tastefully furnished and very homely. Useful guest information in the room, stating that we should ask if we needed anything, and detailing a normally available guest... More

Whilst we would never wish to have a negative review, it is a fact that when you open your home to strangers, sometimes, they are not what you hope for, either in their personality nor behaviour. There are, unfortunately a very small minority of guests who book a B & B at the very reasonable rates they offer, but march... More

First thing's first. This is a general request going out to all B&Bs, guest houses, pensions, and hotels in the world. Please bring back the noon checkout! 11am, and in some places 10am is unacceptable! I know this is becoming the standard, but it's not good. Week days, fair enough. But at weekends? If you are out to a wedding... More

My Sister and I stayed at Bucks House for one night while visiting family in this lovely village. We were very impressed with the high standard of comfort in the charming bedroom, and adjacent bathroom. The house is full of traditional character, and is extremely comfortable and welcoming. The English breakfast was excellent, with most of the produce locally sourced.... More

This corner of Essex could easily be overlooked but it has pleasant rural scenery, pretty, quiet villages and small towns, well maintained country footpaths and bridleways, good pubs and restaurants and some quite interesting cultural attractions. Plenty to fill in a few days and some of the best England has to offer. Great Bardfield is a pretty village with interesting... More
