Motel room was clean and convenient but the phones were not hooked up so we had to venture to the hotel front desk with any questions or concerns.
We arrived for a hockey tournament to play at 6, only to return to the hotel to find out the restaurant closed at 7PM on Friday evenings! Very little available to choose from in the area after 8 even though websites showed open later.
Staff were all friendly and addressed any issues or concerns.
We found out that by calling the hotel direct the room was cheaper even though their website directs you to Expedia to book rooms!

Sadly this hotel is in need of a major renovation and because of that you don't get to appreciate its history and charm. It was clean and to say the staff was friendly would be an understatement. I would certainly stay ther again.

Stayed in the Motel part of the hotel. Room was fine although tired looking. Could have done with a revamp, but it was cleaned every day and fresh towels every day. Not the best we have stayed in but satisfactory for a 2 1/2 star place.

This is by no means a place that I will stay at again. The room is extreemly dated, but it was clean and over cleaned with disinfectant. When we walked in the room the smell of disinfectant cleaner was so strong, it actually hurt my lungs. We turned on a small fan that was in the room and that seamed to help. We checked in after 11pm, so all we wanted to do was get some sleep. Well, we tossed and turned most of the night and by 8am we were up and couldn't get out of the room fast enough because we couldn't breath. We were less than 10 minutes getting out and as soon as we took the second step out in the fresh air, my husband threw up and kept throwing up for the next 20 minutes. it's clean, but how clean! the disinfectant is only masking the dirt and mould throughout the building. We are never sick or effected by poor air quality, but this certainly tested our health. This is not a place I will ever stay at again. There wasn't a soul around to discuss anything with.

While the Hotel itself has an older feel- it was very clean; pride of ownership was obvious. The rooms in the Hotel itself were very reasonable for the price. The pub is very friendly and quiet. Restaurant can be slow- but this is typical of small towns in NL (from my experience). Life seems a little more laid back. The food is fine- perhaps the best club sandwich I've ever eaten!

We booked for 4 days. The tv didn't work & we were told the owner had been called as no one on staff could get it to work. We went for a meal there & was told if he didn't get back to them in 2 1/2 hrs WE should ask to be moved. Moved to the next room where when you opened the door if hit the bed. Sink chipped to the black underneath. The ac blew right on your head so had to sleep reversed. The place was so HOT. Only room with ac. The Lounge was deadly hot.The lights turned off. Went to go outside to stand on sidewalk. No where else to stand. No seats outside. I had to get spouse to come with me as I felt unsafe. You had to walk down the stairs that 6 low life men were sprawled on. They didn't move too must for us to get by. Decided then & there after only being there 6 hrs that we wanted out of there. Told them at 10.30 pm we would be leaving & wanted refund for the other 3 days. Was told to see the manager in the morning. The lady in the lounge[ out on the stairs ] couldn't understand what was wrong. Not safe area. No place outside to sit so you stood out front smoking like a hooker! We have more class then that. Couldn't get a drink in the lounge let alone SEE. My first taste of NL was quite the shock. There is no view. Just big ships. Nothing like the pictures. The write up is full of lies. We were the only people staying there. Spouse escorted my EVERYWHERE. Are these places not checked before the false advertising is given to tourists. Very very disappointed

The hotel is in an excellent location in the centre of Harbour Grace. However, a couple of negatives: breakfast was not included although the food in the restaurant was quite good; and the rooms were of adequate quality and quite old.

I just spent a very comfortable and quiet Saturday night at the Hotel Harbour Grace. My room was clean and spacious with two queen beds, phone, TV, internet, fridge/freezer and coffee maker. My "smoking" room was in the "Motel" section...a separate little building containing 8 or 9 rooms along one long "hallway"...the last two rooms are "smoking" and I was delighted to pay only $89.00 plus tax for the priviledge of being able to relax and have a cigarette! :)
The ladies working at the Hotel were wonderful...the TV wouldn't power up so I went and fetched "Wanda" who led me back to my room and showed me a "light switch" on the wall in between the beds marked "TV"...boom the TV was on! LOL! :) Wanda was a sweetheart and informed me that they would give me a bucket of ice from the bar if I needed it and wished me a good night...and a good night it truly was! :)
I had a restful, undisturbed sleep and would have no hesitation in staying at the Hotel Harbour Grace when I'm in the area again...oh and they have a nice little restaurant and bar too...yeah, definately give 'er a shot! :)
