Seven of us used Borrowdale as a base for climbing Scarfell Pike, some had never stayed in a YHA before and were pleasently surprised. Comfy rooms, great showers, friendly staff, great food (a cracking breakfast), good facilities and a lovely relaxing little bar with great views. We had a cracking stay and will be back, no question

Best YHA in The Lakes. Very friendly staff, good food, nice café / living room. We stayed with the three of us in a family room and made good use of all the meals. Beautiful walks from the doorstep. There were groups of youngsters as well, but we had no problem at all with noise or anything of the kind.

It's a gem of a YHA in a great location. Wonderful food, friendly and helpful staff. Great for walkers and family breaks. Spent a weekend here and it is beautiful, even when covered in snow. Good power showers and spacious dining room and lounge, with an openfire too. Very useful for winter hikes.
