Agree with lots of the comments on this place - great location, good selection of real ales and a fantastic (and decent value) whisky list. But the food was a bit average - nothing to complain about but nothing special either

Stayed at the Brook House Inn during the week before Easter when there was quite a lot of snow. We were very impressed by the Inn and felt that we had made an excellent choice. The best part of our stay was the delicious food which was of a considerably higher standard than we expected. Due to the fact that... More

When you have 3 kids, the single most important thing is that you can ENJOY a tasty meal. So my thanks to the team at the Brook House Inn today for all of the small but very helpful touches that really made our 3 course lunchtime meal so relaxing. Our starters were brought out at the same time as the... More

We booked a meal for our Nans birthday for 16 people and the staff were great, decorated the room for us, blew up the baloons, even allowed us to change the time of booking an hr before we were due to arrive. I had the seafoof medley from the specials board which was beautiful but my scallops were cold, I... More

I have been drinking and eating here for many years, when in the Lakes. Most recently, when either staying in Wasdale, or down the road at Jonty's pub. From the King George pub, it is a 2 mile walk to Boot. There are 2 pubs here, the Boot Inn (the former Burnmoor), a Robinsons house; and The Brook House Inn.... More

We have just returned from a wonderful weekend break at Brook House Inn. From stepping over the door step to leaving this morning we had wonderful, attentive, friendly service. The room was comfortable and spacious (room 3) and en suite. We stayed breakfast and evening dinner and even ate our lunch here after a lovely morning walk. Every morsel consumed... More

Visited this restaurant three times over the new year and each time the food was excellent. Good selection of food during day and evening with a warm welcome always. Muddy boots and dogs are allowed which makes this place a treat for walkers. Definately beats the surrounding outlets.

We booked the New Years Eve dinner and also had lunch here twice, the food every time was superb, the service friendly and the overall experience very welcoming and enjoyable, The staff are lovely, especially Holly, they almost turned the bar upside down when I lost my glasses - I later found them in a coat pocket - oops!! We... More

Stayed at Bridge End cottages over New Year and ended up eating here every night (apart from one fateful evening spent at the nearby Woolpack which we deeply regretted). This pub is everything you'd hope for, super friendly staff, 5/6 great guests ales and a 200 strong whisky list. Lots of cosy nooks and crannies and fires to sit by... More

We had the Brie and bacon sandwich and the prawn sandwich, it was absolutely gorgeous. Great pint and perfect location after walking in the eskdale area after a trip on 'the ratty'. Fantastic specials menu and service was amazing, friendly but not overbearing! Free wifi - which I am using to write this! All in all 10/10 - I have... More
