Sadly the food was focussed on quantity and not quality. When you go for "Steak and Ale" you expect chunky meat and a tasty gravy. Sadly what I got was small bits of meat and a watery brown gravy. It would be great to go back and see some simple improvements by adding some decent stock and a rich stout....

We stayed at Boots n Boards in Silecroft and as there was an event going on at the beach that day Brown Cow Inn was recommended to us instead of the King William which was closer as it might have been busy and we wanted somewhere a bit quieter.

Been here a few times for meals. There is always plenty to choose from. The food and ale is all that you could ask for in a country pub. Local produce from Pattons, Bewleys & Woodalls. Reasonably priced, good service.
We popped into the Brown Cow Inn at Millom for lunch on our way to Ravenglass and were very pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome - from both the owner and the roaring fire in the grate. The food was superb - my steak and onion sandwich was magic! So were the chips and my husbands lovely Ploughmans. We'll definately...
