We booked the holiday online with RCI and expected cleaner, more spacious accomodation. The setting of our Lodge was appreciated more the longer we stayed. It was peaceful and the wildlife was lovely. However, the Lodge itself was small for six people with barely enough seating. Our lodge was unclean, we found crusty tissues in the sofa bed, dirty toilets and the windows were so dirty it was hard to see out. We had problems with our emerssion tank which litterally boiled over and dripped water through light fittings and ceiling. it took 2 days for anyone to come and we had no hot water for... more

The staff were friendly enough and we had one meal on site which was tasty and good value. The location was excellent and if you enjoy the outdoors and walking you will enjoy this quiet part of Cumbria. Awful, dismal and the food was mediocre - those are the good aspects. The staff did their best but were poorly paid (according to one honest soul) and not really trained well. Unfortunately Brockwood Hall's fantastic setting is completely let down by, the lack of cleaniness, poor facilities and out of date interior.
