The hotel has a lovely Victorian exterior with its very central location. The hotel has fawlty towers-esque features, in particular the stairs, the very cosy bar and dining room. I stayed in Room 5 which is on the first floor, at the rear of the hotel next to the stairs. The room itself was probably the only downside of the... More

Some good points first. The staff were unfailingly friendly and welcoming. The rooms were very clean and the towels and bath accoutrements were good. Breakfast was plentiful and an enjoyable experience. The not so good include... the room had an en suite but the whole thing was in desperate need of refurbishing. There was nowhere in the en suite to... More

I stayed at the waverley for three nights. The room was basic, clean and rather well presented. There was a shower in the room ( not en-suite) and a sink. There is 2 communal bath rooms at the end of the hall, both we're compact but clean (however 1 toilet had a deposit, left by the previous user). There was... More

Good central location near marina, nice staff, good bar. Food is good (barring a spot of blue mould on a slice of toast at breakfast which we luckily spotted and had all the toast changed). Lunches and dinners are good value. Price has gone up to £80 for en-suite B&B which would normally put it in the league of big... More

7 of us stayed here as part of a C2C2C cycle challenge, and found this to be an excellent budget Hotel that caters for cyclists with secure storage for the bikes and great banter with the breakfast waitress regarding our "healthy" options, shared bathrooms buts thats fine, clean comfortable rooms at a decent price, good bar, really helpful and friendly... We have stayed here for the past 2 Maritimes with family and used the hotel for other family events over the past 6 years and I cannot fault hoteliers Cheryl and Richard. They are amazing people, so kind and fun, loving life. They can't do enough for you. The hotel is great, it's so quirky with its up and down... More

We stayed here on the eve of our Coast to Coast Cycle ride in April. Conveniently located very near to the train station, and indeed the start of the ride at the harbour. Possibly slightly too conveniently located for the bars and pubs of Whitehaven on a weekend as it was rather noisy to be honest, but I imagine any... More

The Waverley Hotel is a reasonable place to stay but is nothing more than that. The staff are friendly but the hotel is tired and the rooms really need refurbishing to meet more modern standards. My dinner was nothing morethan okay however breakfast was very nice. For the price there are much nicer hotels in the area.
