We had an excellent stay. The staff were friendly, the beer excellent and the food fantastic. The room was clean and tidy. We will definately return again. More

There was no noise from the pub and the meals were out of this world and very reasonably prices. Under £10.00 for a massive mixed grill. Took my dog... More

Our stay at the Horse & Jockey was marred by the unclean & mucky state of the en-suite in our room. The en-suite had obviously not been cleaned . Toothpaste all over the toothmug , soggy soap left in soap tray in shower. But worst of all the floor outside the shower had rotted away being now held up by... More

Having ventured in many pubs in this most remote part of rural Derbyshire, with very mixed fortunes I can not heap enough praise on this establishment, the beer is the amber nectar of the Gods, the food is to die for, The locals are so charming and very welcoming , This is so much more than just a place to eat... Decided to have an overnight stayover on the way to a posh hotel in Chester. When we arrived we realised that the pub was having a 'smoke-as-much-as-you-can' competition, attended mostly by builders. It was a little like walking into a cancerous Village People convention. Anyway, pubs are pubs so you can't complain really (until the law changes). We were shown... More

Initial thoughts were favourable. Room was clean and modern although a little small and the food in the bar was really good. However, the noise from the pub 'lock in' that occured on one night that we stayed there was too much. It was well after 2am when the landlords friends left and the music was turned off. The next...
