good: central easy 10mins walk in to town clean motel style rooms - basic, not luxurious breakfast bar and drinks bar opposite reception friendly staff bad: parking charges are way too high in Travelodge car park (beware parking in chelmsford is hardly ever free and now has small camera-equipped cars to give automated fines from the council and huge areas... We have just returned from two nights at the Travelodge at Chelmsford and found it to be excellent. Our room was very clean and had everything we could have wanted except a hairdryer. We had been into previous reports on this hotel and were very worried about the comments. We travelled there on a bus with 50 of our friends... More

I booked this hotel for my daughter and her 3 children for a 'budget' stopover when they went to a wedding at nearby Leez Priory. A family room was booked well in advance and cost only £25. This was the only good point! I read that parking could be a rip off but luckily she was able to get one... More

The beds in travelodges are awful. Far too soft and VERY uncomfortable. The hotel was clean, tidy and basic. Parking was a rip off. You could get 24 hours parking at a reduced rate of £7.20. But you have to pay by debit card. As a visitor to uk i was using a pay-as-go. The call cost £2.00!

Travelodge ??? What does this say to you? A place that you use whilst traveling and would expect that not only do they cater for you but also the mode of transport you get there in, namely your car. In this establishment '6' parking places were allocated in a privately run car park, at a discount of about £7 providing... More

New Hotel, buffet breakfast , clean rooms. Very close to town centre but a bit near the "flyover", if you can call it that. Try to park somewhere else the car park is Pay and display and not owned by the Hotel, they do have discounted spaces though. Really enjoyed my stay.

The room overall is okay but one certain member of staff treated us like animals. Firstly for parking it cost £20 to stay overnight in the car park. Me and my two friends arrived back at the hotel at 3 in the morning, just talking among ourselves and one member of staff knocked instantly on our door telling us to... More

You also have... More

Before arriving I knew the Travelodge wasn't going to be a 5* hotel but it was worse than I expected. The positives.. To get into each corridor of rooms you needed a key card to enter, which I thought was a very good idea because it stopped anyone just entering the corridors. The room was a good size with a... More

I am absolutely disgusted and appalled at the treatment my daughter and her two friends received at this Chelmsford Travelodge. they arrived back at 3 am in the morning and were refused entry to their room after the 'manager' accused them of being abusive towards him. The girls deny this profusely and then the manager would not even let them... More
