Lovely old house, with a super en-suite room. Charming hosts, friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Tilly, their rescue cat added to the charm. Breakfast was excellent. Not easy to find as their website has not been updated, and there are no parking facilities, but free parking just up the road. Thoroughly recommended. More

Stayed with a friend for 2 nights in April some years ago (2008). Lovely old house. Our bathroom had an old oak-floor, and my friend decided that was excactly what she would have on the floors in her own house. Nice breakfast. Nice hosts. We went for a walk to Sissinghurst gardens, and our host made us a little hand-made... More

I stayed for work but this would make an amazing B&B for a romantic weekend away. Really beautiful rooms. Very friendly staff and very helpful. I left something in the room which they were more than happy to post back to me. Excellent costumer service. More

We had a lovely three nights at Church Gates. Joe was a wonderful host and provided the most delicious breakfasts of fresh fruit, cereals and cooked breakfasts if desired. The house itself is delightfully old and creaky, filled with lovely antiques and books. Our room had a very comfortable large bed and the deep bathtub in the bathroom was a... More

We spent two nights here, in the en-suite room with a very large and comfortable bed and a fabulous library of gardening books to peruse. I also loved the spacious bathroom with a lovely deep tub to soak in. Beautiful situation in the middle of Cranbrook with a wonderful view of the church. Breakfast was magnificent, with local fresh fruit,... More

Joe and David are wonderful hosts! The room was comfortable and both Joe and David are such friendly, inviting people. I loved the fact that Joe was willing to make me fabulous blueberry pancakes since I do not eat eggs. Cranbrook is a lovely village and as an American, my father and I felt very welcomed to the UK by... More

Cranbrook is an ideal location to visit Sissinghurst and Great Dixter, plus a raft of other tourist sites. Church Gates is very homely and Joe provides a warm welcome. The house is beautiful, full of charm and character. The rooms are comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. More

I was feeling sentimental about a holiday I had in England 5 years ago and decided to take a walk down memory lane and google the b&b we loved the most - Church Gates in Cranbrook. I was so excited to see it is still flourishing and that David and Joe are still running one of the most hospitable and... More

We loved Church Gates and Joe. The house is beautiful, full of charm and character. The rooms are very comfortable and furnished with everything Joe and David could think of for their guests. Joe even let us have the other room and bathroom as well! The breakfast was superb. Cranbrook is a perfect English village and set in an idyllic... More

We were bowled over with the warm hospitality, friendliness and generosity of the owners, Joe and David. Our bedroom with its stunning view of the churchyard was very cozy, comfortable and spacious. The en-suite bathroom was a dream for a nice soak in the tub after a long day of sight-seeing. The breakfast is a marvel in itself, substantial enough... More
