we booked for one night here based on reviews from here and were slightly dubious as it had mixed reviews so we were pleasantly surprised by the room (superior) which was clean and in good order. The hotel itself is being renovated which is not a bad thing. The food was good and honest and the staff were friendly and... More

This hotel is one to miss. We paid £92.50. for one night in January. It was cold in the rooms, the carpets were stained, we rejected our first room, it was small filthy, smelly and cold. They moved us to another room, which was bigger, but, was filthy, cold and smelly, with dirty carpets, I threw my socks away. The... More

The Marine Hotel seems to rely on functions, big portion sizes in its restaurant and guests attending functions who stay in their rooms. I stayed for one night, having requested a 'stay for one night, get the second for 50%' deal, which wasn't available - because they had a function on the second night and all rooms were occupied. I'm... More

We have stayed here before with one of my daughter's having her wedding reception here. Whitstable is a lovely little town but not a typical seaside resort and the hotel like the town has probably seen better days but don't be distracted the hotel is full of character with corridors weaving up and down to the bedrooms. We have stayed... More

The seaside has a mixed reputation these days, especially out of season. On the one hand there's the sea; and donuts; and the penny-pushers in the arcades. These things make us happy. On the other hand there's the near desolation of a resort after the tourists have left. The buildings are empty, shuttered, worn by another season of tourist abuse.... More

We spent a family weekend here. The room was spotlessly clean, beds were comfy and rooms a good size. Staff were very pleasant and helpful particularly the restaurant staff. Food was ok not brilliant and for that reason alone I gave 4 and not 5 stars. Although the food was very reasonably priced so I suppose you get what you... More

Yes its "brown" inside but the rooms are well equipped and large with a great view of the sea! I wish I could spend a month here to write a book! The place is lively at this time of year... Weddings and office christmas do's. Bar serves good beer! Nice for sexy weekend!? More

I had room 3, overlooking the sea. Nice and large with excellent facilities - comfort level very good with clean fluffy towels, marvellous water pressure for thundering hot shower and quick bath filling. Iron/board, tea/coffee etc. facilities, good hairdryer, good tele (poor reception fixed by a wiggle of the aerial), good temperature - perfect. Most importantly, the friendly service for... More
