I stayed at this 5 star Gold Award Bed & Breakfast last weekend. It was fantastic! The location is peaceful and beautiful but it was the quality and attention to detail that went well above my high expectations. We stayed in the Whatcroft room which was large, beautifully furnished and had excellent views over the hills. The bed was enormous... More

My husband and I have visited Thorney Mire Barn on many occasions and we will continue to do so for many years to come. The welcome is un-paralleled and the luxury and comfort of the very highest quality. The food served at breakfast time is exceptional and varied and there is always a lovely smell of freshly baked bread in... More

Every aspect of the place is like a 5star Hotel from the beautiful bedrooms with comfortable beds and wardrobes that actually have plenty coathangers!!! We first stayed at Thorney Mire Barn in March 2009 and I wrote a pretty detailed review at that time which you can see on here. Needless to say, two and a half years and a few visits later, everything is as fantastic as the first time and everything I wrote then still stands. I have since then been through... More

I just can't recommend this B+B enough having spent another few days here. The hosts Simon and Jane make you feel so comfortable and at home, that from the moment you step through the front door we never want to leave. The B+B is in a quiet location, no road noise being a big plus point for us. However it's... More

My partner and I spent two nights here in November. This place is really as good as the reviews. we could not fault any aspect of our stay. Simon and Jane's attention to detail is incredible. We opted for a home cooked meal by Jane in our room the first night. It was cooked perfectly and beautifully presented. Breakfast was... More

This was our second stay at Thorney Mire, we celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary here in 2010, our visit was so memorable that we decided that this would be our special place and promised ourselves we would return each year in the future. I did share with trip advisor after our first visit about our stay as I wanted to... More

I know this sounds like an exaggeration but we've stayed in a number of B&Bs and this is the best. We arrived wet ,muddy & bedraggled after a day at the Westmoreland county fair, Simon and his amazing wife Jane took us in hand got our wet clothes dried, muddy boots put aside and had a pot of tea and... We have just returned from our fourth stay at Thorney Mire Barn and are delighted Simon and Jane are still providing such a high quality experience. Our decision to return to the Barn each year is made because we know we will be able to switch off the moment we arrive and benefit from the exceptional service given so graciously... More

We visited Thorney Mire in September of 20ll, and both my husband and myself could not have found ourselves in a more superb B&B.....Our room was divine, and perfect in every way, and owners, Simon and Jane are the most welcoming and attentive of hosts....every detail of our eleven nights with them was handled with the most generous and caring...
