Last weekend, our entire family descended upon the sleepy village of Norbury where Charles and Carol at the Coach House were hosts to a special family event. We filled every room and because some arrived on the Friday as well - we were given very favourable terms. It was wonderful to have the place to ourselves. We had three small... More

We were en route from South Wales to Cheshire when we stayed at the Sun, so unfortunately stayed only one night. Our experience was first class from the moment we arrived. Our welcome was friendly, our room warm, comfortable and scrupulously clean. The evening was improved further still by a superb meal, served in relaxing surroundings, beautifully cooked with fresh... British inns and cuisine are not always rated. There are too many big caterers and fancy chefs taking over. Well, the Sun at Norbury is the place the restores your faith in the British inn, its hospitality, its food and its beer and wine. The Sun is an old coaching inn, independently run, in a small village between Shrewsbury and... More

We stayed two nights at the Sun and what a great place it is. Very quiet with great rooms, very clean and comfortable. We eat in the restaurant one evening and decided on the steaks. The food is not cheap but it was a large meal and cooked to perfection. The breakfasts are wonderful too - best we have had... More

We have just returned from a short stay at the Sun and can confidently recommend it to anyone wanting peace and relaxtion away from the hurleyburley of life, yet within easy access of larger towns. Norbury is a delightful spot and The Sun offers quality accommodation supported by lovely food, cosy lounge areas, good local real ale and a fully... More

First class Country Inn with spacious well-kept grounds, plenty of easy parking; very comfortable rooms and excellent cuisine. To be thoroughly recommended.

My wife and I recently returned from a one nights stay at the Sun Inn in Norbury, and would recommend it highly. The room we stayed in was extremely grand, and very well equipped. The bathroom was beautifully decorated and spotless. Regarding the meals we had, all we can say is you will not be disappointed. Our evening meal was... More

As locals, we have visited the Sun on several occasions for an excellent meal. The menu does not vary, but there is a very good choice, and some favourites are well worth re-visiting. The cooking is marvellous and service friendly. The quietness of this pub is, as far as we are concerned, a great asset. 'Wild Edric'

Went for a meal in May of this year to celebrate being with my partner for one year. There was only myself and partner in the whole building for at least one hour, then another couple came to eat in the restaurant. No locals were drinking and for a small village, I thought that a bit odd. The food was... More

We stayed in the village and had planned to eat every evening at the Sun but after two nights we decided not to go back. No locals use the pub, there was no atmosphere, the taped piano 'easy listening' music was repetitive, monotonous and gloomy. The food was wonderful though the portions way too big to allow for starters and... More

We are very glad 'Mary Webb' thought our food was wonderful. However we are not a 'lively locals pub' so probably not what she was looking for. Our guests generally come deliberately for the peace and quiet (see the other reviews). She and her partner did not stay with us so I think it's a bit unfair to rate our... More
