The Kabuki experience starts with the whimsical 'Kabuki Duck Crossing signs'. You then enter via the Japanese style inn to be met with wonderful vistas of Great Oyster Bay and peaceful musical sounds. In this setting we experienced a delicious Japanese meal with a Tasmanan flare. The accommodation is nestled on the side of the cliff face. From the bedside...

Having missed out on eating here 10 years ago on our last visit I was really looking forward to the experience as it came highly recommended then. The food was good but not sensational the setting is a bit tired and a little grubby. When I see a place like this in such a fabulous location selling other odds and...

I visited this restaurant while I having a holiday in Hobart last several days. restaurant view is good. that's it. However, the food was terrible. we ordered large bento, califonia roll, chicken terriyaki, Japanese platter and miso soup. Firstly, raw fish was disgusting. It is very old smelly and had cut by normal kitchen knife. I can cut better than...

We stayed for a couple of nights at Kabuki by the Sea between Christmas and New Year. The setting is nothing short of stunning, and the units are a bit past their prime. Unfortunately the lack of water pressure made for a very cold shower with the water just trickling out. The restaurant was the biggest disappointment. The, very friendly,...

If you want something different try Kabuki by the Sea. It’s a small inn with 7 chalets and each is self-contained. I think some chalets are newer than others, which might explain the different comments below. We had one of the newer ones and it was lovely.
The views across to Freycinet are wonderful and on a sunny day the...

Based on previous reviews, my guess is that Kabuki by the Sea has since changed hands. We were politely welcomed. Our cabin was fine - perhaps a little "tired" and pokey but they weren't charging sheep stations, and the stunning location more than makes up for the shortcomings. We had booked for an evening meal, and despite being the only...
