This is a great B&B ideally located in Swansea, a short driving distance to Freycinet National Park. The room was beautiful and well-appointed. The hosts were wonderful people and the breakfasts were excellent.

The history of Tasmania is intriguing - convicts, early settlers, original inhabitants. A two-night stay at Schouten House only added positively to the atmosphere of our travels. Some historic accommodation can be overdone with every knick knack possible squeezed on to walls and shelves but hosts, Jodie and Cameron, have perfected the stylish design of their B&B. The breakfasts were... More

Dating from the 1840's with a melancholy past, Jody and Cameron are excellent hosts. The port in the evening is a nice touch ad breakfast is excellent. Like many old houses, this one can be much more than it is with the addition of more period embellishments. A highlight of our lodgings in Tasmania

We stayed at Swansea for 3 nights, using it as a hub for day trips. Schouten House was a lovely base for our travels. The room was spacious and comfortable. For a historical house, it had the necessary modern conveniences (hot and cold running water, digital TV and wireless internet) while preserving its charm. The furniture is lovely; the burr... More

Schouten House is a beautiful bed and breakfast run by Jodie and Cameron who are fantastic hosts. Delicious breakfasts made to your order with a range of hot and cold options. The room was spotless and has far more character and warmth than anywhere else we've stayed in a long while. The hosts are friendly to chat with, offered very... More

My wife and I have just come back from a trip around Tasmania and our best stayover would have to be Schouten House at Swansea. Besides our clean, comfortable and spacious room, the many extras made it a really special stay. Home made bread, 2 guest lounges, complimentary port, chocolates, and a great breakfast selection were just some of the... More

We had a couple of nights here at Schouten House B & B recently. The accommodation was beyond our expectations, beautifully furnished, spacious and comfortable and with everything we could possibly need. Our hosts were attentive but unintrusive, friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were as good as we'd had anywhere with quality ingredients locally sourced - delicious and perfectly cooked!

I stayed 3 nights over Easter and it was perfect. The breakfast was completely delicious. Bacon and eggs were cooked exactly as I wanted, grilled tomato and delicious grilled mushrooms. A big pot of coffee. Fresh local bread for toast, and gorgeous local jams and marmalade. The friendly dining room tables were all set with fresh white linen and nice... More

Schouten House was chosen because of its history, built 1844 and originally the Swansea Inn.The rooms are spacious and nicely furnished and there is also a guest lounge. The hosts are charming and friendly with plenty of advice on local dining options. If I had any criticisms it would be that the ensuite is due for an update and there did seem... We have travelled to Swansea many times and often gazed at Schouten House as a possible resting place. It is a lovely old property (circa 1846) 50 metres from Schouten Beach and a short walk or drive to the restaurants and cafes of Swansea. Decided to stay here for three nights last weekend and we were not disappointed. The owners,... More
