I have to admit that I generally like the Kimpton hotels: they're smaller than other chains (e.g., Hilton, Hyatt, etc.) and have way more personality and warmth.

We will only stay at Hotel Monaco when in Portland. We tried all the other 4 and 5 star hotels in Portland and nothing compares. They treat us and our two dogs like royalty. The rooms are newly redecorated and clean. The location is within walking distance to many attractions. We look forward to returning!

Te hotel is clean, comfortable and cute. The rooms are not super fancy, but decorated nicely. The location is perfect for exploring all Portland has without a car.
What truly puts this hotel apart is the service. The staff is excellent and have super recommendations on where to go in the city.
