We stayed at the Lion and the Rose while stopping over in Portland for the night. The room was absolutely lovely; the house was immaculate, beautifully restored and furnished. The hosts were gracious and accommodating. The rate is a bit high, but despite that, we enjoyed our short stay very much.

This is a very professionally run B&B. We did not have the breakfast service, however food,fruit, tea (many choices), coffee, cookies and snacks were available to us. Stayed for 9 nights for our vacation. Beautifully presented Victorian with beautiful furniture. Room was kind of tight but comfortable with queen bed. Lion and the Rose B & B was fabulous. We stayed in the Lavonna Room, which had a sleep number bed and was so comfortable. We rented the extra bathroom that had a clawfoot tub, had a wonderful bubblebath in it. The staff are outstanding.

I had friends coming to visit for just the day when we were visiting Portland. The common areas were perfect for pairing up and having separate conversations. The manager there was great, very nice and eager to please. In all we were quite pleased.
