I’m old enough to remember when Holiday Inn was a trusted brand for travel: Whether on a family vacation, or a business trip, you could expect a mostly positive experience. The brand has been very inconsistent since those days, with some locations much better than others; And some not worth writing about. When ranking hotels or restaurants, I tend to rate them in their class. In other words, a nice sandwich shop could rate a 5 amongst the competition, but not be a 5 star dining experience. So, this hotel won’t be compared to a Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton. This Holiday Inn has a rather picturesque setting on Hayden Island, complete with some views of the Columbia River off the balconies of most rooms. The hotel itself is huge, and has it all: A pool(closed till summer), a bar and restaurant, convention space, laundry facilities(🤔..only 1 washer and dryer), and a fitness center. Rooms are of good size, and seem comfortable, including the bed with all the pillows. The bathrooms are a bit dated, and could definitely use a re-fresh: Water pressure was adequate though. My room had a nice but small balcony overlooking the marina. However, not very private, as the balconies are close. Rooms get a solid 3 overall, at least in this class of hotel. Amenities, as mentioned are many. The laundry is almost an afterthought, located in the fitness center, and not very useful if this place gets busy I’m betting. The gym has a few cardio machines, one cable weight tower, and a few dumbbells, but nothing fancy. I didn’t try the bar n grill, as the reviews were all over the place, but a couple of people told me the salads and fish n chips were all pretty good. Wanted to try the pool and hot tub, but they’re still not open. Amenities get a 3… Service was actually a highlight: From checking in, to housekeeping, everyone was friendly and very professional: Nothing really overlooked that I noticed. They provide a refreshing water cooler loaded with fruit in the lobby…Nice touch. Service gets a 4 in this class of hotel. I’m not from the area, so I’m not sure where this place ranks among the other nearby offerings, but this Holiday Inn isn’t a bad place for a day’s rest. There’s also a few restaurants within walking distance. If you’re in town a day or 2, I say give it a go… Enjoy your stay.…
