Nice room, good décor and location. Shame I had such a poor nights sleep caused by hearing every word, footstep and incessant snoring (!) of the people lodging above me. Bed was on the firm side (but of a decent size) as were the pillows. Also, found breakfast room locked at 7.50am.....you will not get served before 8.00pm, which might... More

My Wife, Mother in Law and myself spent the night at The Old Forge on 04/05/'13 prior to walking the Sarsen Trail. Before check in we soaked in the atmosphere in nearby Avebury which has a spectacular set of Neolithic stones and an all round quaint feel. We checked in to The Old Forge where Leslie showed us to our... More

We choose this spot as a nice central location to visit and hike the Avebury/Silbury area. A very nice country village location, great hosts, and a superb breakfast to start a busy day of hiking and touring. Decorated very nicely, wonderful family pets enhance the experience while travelinig away from home and loved the breakfast room with a view of... More

Stayed 2 nights here on a solo mini-break walking trip. Beautiful undulating countryside all around including West Woods and the Ridgeway. Received a very warm welcome upon arrival. So glad the central heating came on mid-afternoon because the outdoor temperatures were hovering just above zero during my stay. As a walker I spent several hours outside daily so coming 'home'... We had a very nice stay at the Old Forge. I originally booked for 1 night, then asked if we could change it to 2 nights. In order to accommodate us both nights, we were moved to a larger room with a kitchen and charged the same price as the smaller room. I thought this was very nice of them... More

Stayed from 30 Oct to 2 Nov 2012. I cannot fault this B&B in any way. We booked 3 nights through this website and on arrival Laura, the landlady had upgraded us for no extra charge (as there were not many people staying there). We had the annexe with its own kitchen and bathroom. Rooms were delightfully decorated and very... More

A friend and I stayed here overnight before I started a walk along the Ridgeway. Very convenient, and twin room very comfortable with all we needed for an overnight stay. The breakfast the next day was great and I was given the best packed lunch of my whole journey, which included a drink, crisps and cereal bar. B and B... More

This B&B is situated very close to Avebury, Silbury Hill and Marlborough with all their attractions. The B&B itself is charming and is styled in the 'English country look'. We met Laura, the owner, who was a friendly and interesting person. We had the choice of three rooms and chose the ground floor annexe, which also contained a small kitchen.... More

Lovely room, great breakfast. Issues: no internet access unless we sat on the floor near the door and the single pane glass did nothing to reduce the road noise of passing motorists. I was rather surprised at the amount of traffic roaring by between 7:00 and 7:30 every morning :( The owners are slightly more formal than some places we... More

I was travelling with a friend who was visiting England for the first time and this suited nicely! We had the twin room (which I understand can also be a king, for couples), which is off to one side of the main house so feels a bit like having your own little cottage. The beds are comfortable and the linens... More
