Our 2nd visit. We put the 1st visit down to just a bad experience and decided to trust the reviews here. Who were they written by??? The room was fine, the food is ok to good. The service is appalling. Angry, arrogant waiting staff. Get friendly with the odd friendly restaurant staff and listen to them talk about the owners... More

We had a very pleasant stay for 3 nights at this hotel in October and although it’s more of an upper class golfer/retired wealthy gentleman’s hotel, we still found most of the staff quite pleasant. There seemed to be a dress code for the restaurant which we gave a miss and went into the town instead for food. There isn’t... More

I booked this weekend break as a surprise for my wife's 40th birthday. I phoned a couple of days before our arrival to make sure we got a double room and not a twin. I also informed the receptionist that it was a special occasion as other hotels we have stayed at have gone the extra mile to provide something... More

My husband & I got married at The Carlyon Bay Hotel and it was a wonderful venue. We chose the Carlyon after checking out other venues in the area and finding them overpriced and unattractive. We were shocked when we discovered how reasonably priced it was as it looked like it would be the most expensive. The staff were attentive... More

We stayed for a long weekend and found the hotel/rooms/spa clean and well appointed. Our room was fine and overlooked the sea which the photos show. All the staff we spoke were positive and polite. The hotel style is traditional but not chintzy/OTT. We didn't eat in the restaurants but had a good size burger and a decent club sandwich... More

Just returned from another great stay at the Carlyon Bay hotel. Such great value, we went for the three day break at £75 pppn a Carlyon inland double, dinner, bed and breakfast. This included a free bottle of champers on arrival, a free lunch on the day of our choosing and 25% of all spa treatments plus a free round... More

I like the very friendly and attentative service in a child free environment! First class food and service, even a disco on the Friday night. Spa was very clean, I only wish I'd pre-booked for a massage the week before! Go stay there and spoil yourself & partner! We had a nice room, champers on arrival, a completmentry Tea &... More

One of a group of family run hotels in the West Country. The staff were exceptionally helpful and seemed genuinely happy to accede to our every request. Would definitely recommend this beautiful hotel (see how we rated the hotel). Only one negative. I am teetotal and unfortunately the menu did not state that the dessert contained alcohol. As soon as... More

We booked this hotel for a special rate of £69 each BB&D and with a free room upgrade and cream tea on arrival. There was a bit of confusion over our booking - we booked over the phone to go there the following day for two nights and the receptionist we spoke to said she would e-mail us the reservation...
