Arrived on Lord Howe Island on the 4th June 2013. Spent seven lovely days at Somerset apartments. The accommodation was very good. The beds comfortable. Kitchen had all that was needed. The TV reception adequate. Gai and Rebecca were both lovely girls and helpful at all times. The weather was very kind to us with not too much wind or... More

The Somerset was very good value for money. Very good location to Store/Post Office and Anchorage restaurant. The dbl bed was very comfortable, the kitchen has good cooking facilities with Cups/pates/saucer/tumblers/cutlery/toaster/fridge and a TV that picks up Channel 9 in Alice Springs plus Abc and SBS. The grounds and gardens are beautifully landscaped. The office is only manned about 4 hrs... More

We spent eight nights here in April 2013. It was a night longer than planned as the airport was closed due to severe winds across the airport. The accommodation is good, clean and comfortable. The apartments are in the centre of the island, on the flat and close to what is considered the CBD of the island. It is very... More

Port Macquarie.May 05, 2013. Our eighth visit. Over some thirty years we have stayed at various places on the island. All were good, clean, and the welcomes was great. Never stayed at places up the hill on the top road 'cos it would be too uncomfortable to ride bikes up there. Eating at places on the top road is fine.... More

Stayed a week here in the end of April. It somewhat depends on what you are planning on doing, but the properties location is one of the best on the island. Also stayed at the Blue Lagoon. If you are planning on going to Ned's beach and the Lagoon, then this is right in the middle..but the best grocery store... More

Location wise, it doesn't get much better than Somerset apartments which are on a level part of the island making easy walking to the Lagoon, Ned's Beach, the information centre and most restaurants. We found the staff generally unhelpful. We were two days late to the island due to crew-availability and weather-related flight cancellations. When we enquired at extending our... More

Well located & convenient to town & beaches. Clean & stocked with courtesy umbrella, backpacks, water bottles. Would be a great budget place to stay except for the mattresses which I would guess to be original from when the apartments opened decades ago. Very uncomfortable.

We travelled in January 2013 with 4 adults and 3 kids (2 couples, one family worth of kids). We wanted somewhere close to Ned's Beach as we knew the kids would love that, and to the post office which is near a restaurant and corner store/takeaway joint. Somerset is the perfect location on the island - it's a 5 minute... More

This accommodation is in an excellent location close to restaurants and shops. At least you don't have to climb the hill to get there. All accommodation on the island is relatively expensive and Somerset is at the value end of the price range. Lord Howe is a truly unique location and holiday experience. The staff at Somerset are excellent and... More

The accomodation was very basic but clean although once you arrive the rooms are not cleaned unless specifically requested. There is no air conditioning or ceiling fan which is an issue as it is very hot and humid on the island during summer. Lord Howe is generally expensive and this is one of the better value options on the island... More
