The tent sites are extremely rocky, but wooded nicely. Almost nothing is directly on the lakeshore so be prepared for that. The cabins are cute but I'd say you can only fit a max of 4 people in there, since there's very little room for storage of your items other than in the back room which has 4 bunk beds.... More

First of all, the campground was very nice, woodsy, peaceful. There is a beach, boat launch, and environmental center. However, everything including the campstore and maine office close at 4:30. So if you are renting a cabin, make sure you pick up your key before 4:30. Camp Rangers are very hard to find after the office closes. We only saw... More

I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to camping--I love it, but only when it's perfect. Wen to Mauch Chunk Lake Park for tent camping for the first time this year to try something different. The location is spectacular! But the campsites are a bit small, and reasonably close together. That means lots of people noise. The campground... More

We love to go to Mauch Chunk Lake. It's inexpensive and a great place to go for the day, weekend or week. The lake is great with it's beach, playground and snackbar. You can also rent kayaks and boats. The campground looks nice although we have never stayed there. It's a great place to get away to and relax. Our... More

The scenery is beautiful in Mauch Chunk Lake Park. In the summer, mountains lined with bright green trees meet the horizon. There is a small fee to enter the park, but you may enter as many times as you like in one day after you have paid the fee. This is helpful because the road in the park is all... More

This was a nice, quiet campsite. The sites are fairly large and wooded. My GPS told me I had reached my destination about two miles before I actually did, but there were road signs that helped us find the way with no problem. The staff is wonderful and very informative! They gave us great tips on where to eat and... More

Three hiking friends and myself made the hike along the lake's farside, up the mountain, along the top and returned to the parking area (Sep 2011). This is about 8 or 9 miles some of which required bushwhacking and plenty of tics were grabbing onto us, so hikers beware. That said, this is a hidden gem of a lake and... More

Checked in Thurs stayed til Sun , clean showers and toilets, quiet , natural surrroundings . The lake was excellent for canoeing and fishing , even caught a few large mouth bass. When into town for special dinner Sat night , The Emerald was relaxing and the food was fantastic.

Everything about the park, activities and accomodations was wonderful. Showers are clean, great bike & hiking trails, and the lake/swimming area is well supervised. The historic town is a great time, and I suggest touring the prison. The only comment I have is that their directions need to be much more clear for those who are not familiar with the area.
