The Sheraton Read House is a Historic hotel that is nice overall but could use a bit more updating. Nice rooms that have been redone, nice beds, linens and furniture. The bathrooms are bad. I stayed in a King suite, the room and sitting area was nice, the bathroom was TINY. Two people cannot get ready at the same time.... More

This hotel was centrally located in downtown and we had easy access to the free shuttle for downtown chattanooga. We parked outside the hotel for the weekend without incident instead of paying $15 a night for parking. I had to partake of the indoor swimming pool and it was lovely. We did not visit the Porter restaurant located inside the... More

You are very kind to take the time to share such wonderful comments and I am grateful to you. I am so pleased to know that your visit back in June of 2011 met your expectations - I note your comments about our beds and Porter's Steakhouse and, of course, agree with you on both counts! Allow me to thank... More

The lobby is gorgeous and the staff was friendly. The room itself seemed ok at first. However, the air conditioning would not come on, and it was an old school window unit instead of a thermostat. The "fan" and "heat" controls worked, but not air conditioning. The black-out curtains would not move, only the sheer curtains. That was ok...until night... More

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am very, very sorry to learn of the challenges you had with your guestroom. I wanted to let you know that our Chief Engineer and Executive Housekeeper both took the time to investigate the items you described with the a/c, blackout drapes and shower. However, I am both perplexed... More

I usually get the end room with the jaccuzzi tubs and always enjoy them. depends on activities in the area i suppose as some nights it is very quite and peaceful and others dogs barking and loud people going up and down the steps and in the hall. did call and complain about the noise one time and was told... I apologize for the noise you experienced during your visit back in April of 2011 - it does happen on ocassion and while... More

My family stayed at the Read House on Christmas Eve and Christmas night. I purposely chose the Read House over other options because i thought it would be so nice and beautiful at Christmas. The staff was friendly enough but that didn't make up for the ants all over the bathroom door frame. It was disgusting. I called the front... More

I was so very sorry to learn of your very unfortunate experience; I cannot explain why there were ants in your room but I assure you this was an isolated occurence.Upon investigating I was informed that your items were not fully packed and thus we were hesitant to move your belongings without you being present, to ensure nothing went missing.... After a long day of driving with a car full of Christmas presents, we were thrilled to pull into the garage which has 24 hour attendants who assured us everything would be safe. (It was!) The Front Desk was efficient and friendly, even giving us dining options for the late hour as the restaurant was already closed. We happened by... More

Let's start with the hotel itself: An older building with a lavish, wood interior lobby that echoes a truely "swanky" feel. It was conveniently located for us within walking distance to anything we wanted to see in downtown Chattanooga and the room prices were very reasonable to be a holiday. The decor inside is dated in general (keeping the charm... More

The Read House is an historic old building in downtown Chattanooga, where we decided to spend the new year celebration. Yes, it's gorgeous; yes, the staff are generally very good. But if you like to sleep in darkness and quiet, this may not be the place. The light sources can be taped over (we carry opaque tape to cover all... More

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback; while I was pleased to learn you felt our staff took good care of you I am very sorry for the challenges you experienced with your HVAC. We recently stayed here on our way to Florida. The hotel was a little off the beaten path, but we thought we'd take advantage of my Starwood Points and have a free night on the road. This would be a great location for people that are needing a place to stay in the downtown area. We were so worn out... More
