We booked a room overlook river and instead got a room over looking the roof. The room was dusty which made are allergies act up. The staff was not very friendly and we had to ask where breakfast was and when, never told. When we went to check-in our room wasn't available, no offer to suggest things to do.

My husband and I just returned from a week in Ireland spent at the Ballynahinch Castle Hotel, using it as our base to explore the West coast. A perfect choice in every respect. An oasis in the middle of the surrounding barrens (which are breathtakingly rugged and beautiful). The grounds alone are spectacular to explore! The rooms were lovely and... More

The castle is lovely. Plan to explore the grounds during your stay. It is like walking through a park. Our room was large and very comfortable. CAn't say enough about the quality of service. From the time you check in to checking out someone is always available to help.

Stayed 2 nights at the beginning of May in the original building. We were 2 adults and a 5 year old. We had a llovely corner room with windows on both sides with views of greenery and water. The building and grounds are beautiful, we enjoyed numerous lengthy walks on the property. The breakfasts were nice and the staff was... More

My wife and I recently spent a weekend at Ballynahinch and during the time were able to try much of what it has to offer. The building itself has an authentic "old world" feel; they manage to keep it beautifully maintained while protecting the traditional layout, furnishings and ambiance. The staff are exceptionally friendly and the place has a bustling... More

From the moment we arrived at this beautiful old hotel, we were made to feel at home in a way that only the Irish can manage. The hotel itself dates from the mid-eighteenth century and has a fascinating history, which the convivial general manager, Patrick O'Flaherty, is only too happy to relate. The rooms and corridors are spotlessly clean and... More

We spent 3 nights at the hotel and had a lovely relaxing time. The lounge, library and pub areas of the hotel are very traditional and all had roaring log fires on the go during our stay which we loved. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful without ever being intrusive and the food was excellent. We ate in the... More

We stayed in one of the luxury rooms in the side wing. It was lovely - a four poster bed, loads of space, doors opening out onto the riverside, a sitting area and lovely bathroom with power shower. The location is very quiet and relaxing, and the food was delicious. We ate in the bar on the first night, which... More

We've just returned from a two night break at Ballynahinch. I've wanted to go for a few years and only now taken the opportunity. It has much of the castle grandeur of Dromoland, is as luxurious-feeling as a new 5 star hotel but has the warmth and laid back friendliness of a perfect B&B. Dinner at Owenmore was delicious with... When we booked our trip, we definitely wanted to stay a night or two in a castle. Ballynahinch allowed us to do so within a reasonable price range without sacrificing quality or comfort.
