We recently stayed at the castle inn in lydford as they had a special accommodation deal at only £40 a night for double occupancy. The pub is old and the bar is lovely, with fabulous open fires, well kept beers and local produce used for the bar meals. Our room was extremely dated decorated in the 1980s and to be... More

stayed here on the weekend 20th January 2012, for my husbands birthday. What a lovely place with a warm welcome. We had room 6 which is over the bar but the noise wasn't a problem, early on we could hear a gentle babble of voices but by the time we retired it was all quiet. the food is outstanding for... More

This old inn, next to Lydford Castle, offers a high quality but limited menu (game, steak and fish) in historic surroundings - period wooden furniture, stone flooring, nooks and crannys and log fires in winter. Good locak beer selection and wine menu. Recommended for mature groups with good taste. A remote location so a willing driver needed if not hotel... More

I booked at short notice and got a very good deal on bed and breakfast. It's easy to find and has ample parking. It's a very pretty village with a lot of history and the pub is next to the ruins of the castle.. It is a ruin and takes half an hour to see! Walking in to the pub... More

We were cycling from Woolacombe to Plymouth over four days, eating at pubs along the way. Being cyclist and just having worked up a massive appetite we stopped for lunch. The pub is clearly popular and was busy. This didn't affect the service and they were happy to bring our food out to us all the way in the front... More

Steaks are one of the best ever tasted . Beer is well kept and a good selection is available. Staff are friendly and we ate in the (locals)bar due to our wet collie dog,all in all,so good we had to visit twice (12 mile,s each time ,but so worth it!) Great location, excellent staff, thanks Lizzie and Lexxi (your quite mad). Good food and fab real ales. More Black Prince for me please. Evening meal was top quality. Romm 5 is very quaint if a little small, shower could do with a bit more power but at £45 a night who's complaining. One small request, a little background music (low... More

We stopped over on the way to sennen cove. Its in a handy location just off the A30 in the lovely village of Lydford. The rooms are fine just a bit dated. Food is good and reasonably priced. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our only niggle is there were loads of flys in the bar and snug which... More

Hi apologies for the flies, we have had some very warm and wet weather just recently which being in the rural countryside created a big hatch of flies, they come in from the cold and will die off with the first frost More
