Although staff were friendly, the service at breakfast was awful with simple requests for milk being forgotten etc. There was a fight between the punters and it was very noisy. Rooms need complete refurbishment. Noise doesn't stop until after 12,30am. Very expensive for what is effectively a hostel in bad condition. Keep away.

We stayed here for two nights B+B and were made to feel welcome and at home. The rooms were clean and tidy, the beds comfortable. The bar has a lot of character and a good selection of beer to boot, my favorite Ringwood ale 49er was served at its best! Breakfast was brilliant too!! ( you can upgrade to a... More

I recently stayed here for three nights with my family, and I honestly cannot find fault, it was a weekend and was warned before booking that the hotel may have a live band. I took my chances and very glad I did, we stayed in a family room and apart from a very dull background noise that stopped before midnight... More

Stayed here for one night, was awful! Despite claiming new management the place is in dire need of a complete refurbishment. Room was disgusting, it was very damp and run down. Our room overlooked the beer garden so room stank of cigarettes from smokers outside. It was so noisy we didn't get any sleep due to loud music and an... More

came across the Black Bear by chance and had not read the previous reviews before we stayed, glad we didn't otherwise we might not have booked in. Our experience was fantastic, from the warm friendly welcome when we walked in, until the next day when we left. This is a old inn, so don't expect bland square box bedrooms, but... More

Faultess. Excellent menu, and good value for money. Four of us ate, and everyone enjoyed their meals, all for under £30. Lady behind bar was very friendly and helpfull. Fire was roaring, and we were also allowed to bring our dogs in (bar only). Would recommend this place, friendly and warming.

Had a one night weekend stay at The Black Bear. Staff went out of their way to help us sort out where to put our trailer as no parking at hotel (but had no trouble getting close parking outside). Food was excellent both evening meals and breakfast and very good value. Bar is popular with locals but everyone was very... More
