We had a lovely stay for 2 nights over Easter. The welcome was very warm on a very cold day...roaring open fire in the foyer in a lovely period building and only a short stroll to the village centre. The staff were all friendly and keen to help. The breakfasts were lovely too, and we were given hot-cross buns on... More

Stayed overnight whilst heading South and booked this hotel due to it's reasonable price. Staff very friendly and helpful, however the hand basin in the bathroom had no hot water and the shower was only luke warm. The room we were allocated (number 6) had a continual drone from the heating system throughout the night. Breakfast was good.

We stayed at the Burghfield 22/23 February 2013 following recommendation from my brother in law. When we arrived we received a warm welcome on cold, windy day. There was a roaring log fire in the hallway, just lovely! Our room (room 2) was HUGE!, beautifully decorated and well equipped. We booked for dinner on Friday evening... We were led to... More

We have just returned from a fantastic weekend at the Burghfield. From check-in to check-out, the whole experience was brilliant! Unfortunately we were the only people in the whole hotel which is a shame for them, but great for us. We were made to feel very welcome and the service was perfect. Our room was very clean, big and had... More

As retired hotelier I was keen to experience the hotel as training is sadly lacking in many establishments. On arrival (tuesday) after finding the receptionist we checked in and requested a table for dinner @ 7pm - response - our restaurant is only open on a friday & saturday !! Our room was a large double & clean but only... More

We married on 1st October in my husband's church of St Finbarrs in Dornoch and had our reception at the Burghfield. Absolutely first class service from staff and students alike giving us and our friends and families treasured memories. A very special place! Julie Bhatti

Well maybe not quite in that league and many things about the hotel were great. The rooms were really comfortable, we had a really friendly welcome and the lunch and two breakfasts that we had there were absolutely fine. But one or two occurrences made us wonder if we were on television. On our first morning our group of ten... More

We enjoyed our stay, walking distance to the shops in Dornoch, lovely setting and grounds, staff is friendly and helpful, knowing they are in training helps make you a little more patient, the breakfast was slow, but ohh so good!! The oatmeal was the best I had in Scotland!! Croissants wonderful, buttery and fresh! We were very comfortable here. The... More

I was very impressed with the quality and cleanliness of the room which had great views and a gorgeous big bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside was the time it took for breakfast to arrive. I had to wait half an hour for my cooked breakfast so I only had time for a few mouthfuls before I... More

Great looking hotel and the rooms are huge. Nice and quiet location and staff are friendly and helpful. This hotel only has six rooms and I stayed here 20days whilst working. Downsides, breakfast is a hit and miss affair some days you'll get coffee/tea other days you will sit and wait for an eternity to the point you get up... More
