I stayed at Richmond House for one night while on a trip around the highlands. I was only looking for basic accommodation at cheap price and in that sense the 'hotel' delivers on that but after having dinner nearby I returned to the hotel via the bar and, seeing people still chatting and drinking, thought I'd have a night cap.... Hotel overall not bad for the price. The outside area did look like the OK corral though. My main problem was with the boom boom boom of the music from below our room (it was a Wednesday night). My husband asked for it to be turned down and it was until about 20 mins later when it went up even... More

This is a hotel/B&B above a pub so comes with the obvious pitfalls/benefits depending upon your trip. We stayed here after riding 80+ miles and all our immediate needs were more or less met: shed for the bikes (only locked up at pub closing time though, take an extra lock), a shower (needed to tap it into action to get... We were a group of 6 cyclists and we had planned to stay in the hotel for 2 nights. After a day long cycle to get there, we were greeted with an ensuite bath without even a shower hose. Some of the group did not even have baths in their rooms and had to share very grubby communal facilities. One... More

A good location for exploring the highlands. A good location in the village, with the tourist information, the canal lock gates, loch boat trips and a super restaurant overlooking the loch all within a couple of minutes walk from the front door. Ample parking behind the hotel was a relief. Our hosts made us very welcome, from the friendly delivery... More

Stayed here July 2011. Rooms were very reasonably priced but could do with modernising. positive notes were we met some mad Scottish fella in the bar who turned out to hate the world and tried to fill in all the locals....lets say he made it an entertaining evening ...additionally the bar maid was fit...would stay here again.

We stayed for one night during a charity cycle ride and the stay was great. Irene was a lovely host and really went out of her way to help us out and make us comfortable, even washing some of our clothes, filling flasks the next day etc. The breakfast was great and was available when we needed it which has... This guesthouse has the potential to be a decent place to stay unfortunately the service is poor and on the night we stayed the music in the bar directly under our room continued until after midnight and was only turned down when we appeared in pyjamas in the bar. The breakfast in the morning was also average. Great location.

As stated in a review on your site dated 2008. Obviously NO improvement to the facilities since that review. Carpets look like they have not been cleaned for months. Rooms out-dated, need modernisation.En-Suite facility leaves a lot to be desired, had to use other Bathrooms that were not much better. Music now every night till 01.30 at least. Apparently we... My husband and I stayed for 2 nights at the Richmond House Hotel in Fort Augustus and chose it for its excellent location on the Caledonian canel at the end of Loch Ness and just a couple of hours beautiful drive to the Skye ferry where we were heading. The hotel is located in the centre of Fort Augustus opposite... More
