Lewis was ruggedly beautiful, and Eschol was well positioned, in a quiet street off of the main road, within a mile of the ancient Callandish Stones. We stayed in a room with two single beds ('twin' in the US), which was smallish but clean, and had a nice size ensuite bathroom. We paid 80UKP for two people (August 2012). The... More

We stayed 4 nights, just about the right length to see many of the sights and sites. It was good to be a 10-minute drive from the Standing Stones, since we found ourselves drawn to return there 3 or 4 times at different times of day. The breakfasts were fine, especially the kippers and the porridge -- and our one... More

We recently stayed at Eschcol guest house. We tried to book into Loch Roag ( next door) but they had a more suitable room in the Eschcol. Although the room was a little basic, we had a really nice time for the 2 nights we stayed and would go back again. The breakfast ( served in the Loch Roag) was... More

Situated on an island filled with standing stones, forts and monuments, the Eschol Guest House is perfectly positioned for taking advantage of these sites. Minutes away from the Callanish Standing Stones, it makes it easy to enjoy this ancient site at a moment's notice, particularly at dusk. The innkeeper, Neil MacArthur, is extremely personable and willing to please. We felt... More

We stayed three nights and would recommend it to anyone. Very helpful host and we were very well looked after. Facilities all very good. The only drawback was the lack of eating places near by.

This B & B is quite well kept but obviously not as new as the neighbouring one ( loch roag). It may be in need of some renovation. One single room smelt rather musty and damp. The showers do not work properly but this can be easily fixed. We would have preferred the heating to be turned on in the... More

Eschol B&B and Loch Roag are side by side in Breasclete, Isle of Lewis. It is very quiet, and beautiful here. The rooms are large and very comfortable as are the reading and observation areas. Eagles can be seen on occasion on the rocks behind the house. Neil, the proprietor, is very personable and knowledable about the surrounding areas which... More
