Our stay at Viewfield House was unplanned as we were unable to stay an extra day at the Cuillin Hills Hotel and they recommended Viewfield to us. It is like no place you have ever stayed before, basically a huge Victorian house, still in private hands and with a geneology which goes back centuries. Yes there are quirky aspects to... More

Like staying in the owner's ancestral home! Much more impressive "castle" like exterior than I was expecting (smarter than the rest of the surrounding Portree) which follows up inside with large, stag-stuffed entrance area, dining room hung with family portraits, comfy sitting room with squashy fireside sofas and grand piano (perfect for a pre-or post-dinner drink). Our room upstairs wasn't... More

My wife, son and I stayed here for two nights in April. The rooms were large and very nice. Breakfast was included in the price and was very good. They have a variety of cererals, yogurts, etc. and you can choose from one of three hot options. Breakfast hours are from 8:30-9:30 but they accomodated us at 8:00 so that... More

We stayed at this B&B in September 2012 just days before our wedding in Edinburgh. The old manor house is very unique and makes for a memorable place to stay (when we think back to our trip, 5 months later, this place definitely stands out as a great memory- and is worth booking for that fact alone!) The reason I... More

I stayed in the self-catering cottage for a week with my wider family. The cottage was nice and cozy once the fire was going and the cottage was well furnished! It being self-catering we didn't see much of the staff but when we did encounter them they were always extremely helpful! Wifi was provided although it required continual login which... More

Refined yet relaxed ambience; attentive, courteous staff; elegant, formal full breakfasts; serene and beautiful surroundings; cozy, well-appointed room: one could not ask for a more delightful sojourn. Upon arrival, we were personally greeted in the driveway and escorted on a tour of the house. There is an enchanting parlour with a grand piano and roaring fire for taking tea, reading,... More

Truly a beautiful hotel. Both hubby and I have stayed in many fabulous hotels but this is unanimously our all-time favourite. The building simply oozes with relaxed unpretentious elegance, decadence and charm. The atmosphere is heavenly. Our room was large and almost stately, but comfortable. The service was personal, without being invasive and our breakfast was delicious. We did not... More

Adored our stay in Viewfield House. An Aladdin's Cave of treasures and beautiful antique furniture in a stunning Victorian home, with real attention to detail, lovely staff, great breakfasts, a wonderful atmosphere, and fantastic rooms which couldn't be faulted. Loved everything about this place, will definitely be back, and cannot recommend it highly enough. Really nice to see an old... More

My wife and I looked forward to our stay in this Victorian country estate with great anticipation and we were certainly not disappointed. The home is truly a treasure and is filled with amazing and interesting antiques and furnishings. It is classic but cozy and comfortable at the same time. Now I have to say that unfortunately my wife fractured... More
