Rooms were lovely and warm, we even had electric blankets to snuggle into to when we arrived home from our night out' I think this place could easily get too noisy if it had full capacity, as there were only 3 couples when we arrived and we could here them in the morning, but overall it was a lovely place to stay, clean and cozy building was decorated beautifully, however gardens needed a clean up but all in all it was lovely, breakfast was delicious .location is great, can walk into town within 10 minutes.

We stayed at Melba Lodge with a group of friends while visiting the local wine area. The rooms were very comfortable & hospitality exceptional. Breakfast got us off to a great start pre wine tasting. Some good restaurants in the town within walking distance.

My wife and I booked for 25th of October for one night to attend a function nearby. We arrived at about 4:00 pm a Melba Lodge and no problems at first, the room and overall impression of the property was good with a lovely breakfast room and a great breakfast on offer next day. We returned back at about 10:45 Saturday and were ready to settle into sleep .About 10 minutes later, the other people in the room next door arrived back (and as one other person has said in their review, the wall are so thin that you can hear everything, how this building ever got approval when it was built with no sound proofing is beyond me! ) By the noise from their room ,they were both very drunk, as they could be heard through the thin walls, what resulted was arguing and fighting between them with this going on for over three hours until about 3:00 am in the morning when it stopped we think they both passed out due to being very very drunk. Prior to this we had to put up with this through the paper thin walls with all sorts of swearing, threats of violence to each other, insults , continued yelling ,it went on and on. My wife and I were very frightened and worried that this situation could have got really out of hand. We didn't know whether to approach them ( we didn't do which was probably the best thing) or call the Police on 000, which we should have done!, but didn't . As a result we were up most night. In the morning I got up very early mainly due to their loud snoring and spoke to the lady owner who was preparing breakfast and asked if she or or husband could do anything NOTHING. The only good thing was the breakfast was first class and excellent, but is not worth the noise issues and the lack of action on the owners part. We very disappointed with the lack of action taken and no offer of compensation on their part maybe a small discount on the tariff or some incentive to make a return visit could have been offered for what we went through. A very unfortunate stay, which was a pity as with some sound proofing in the building and some strategies to deal with drunk guests, it has the potential to be a good place . Strongly not recommend to stay in its present state unless you are very deaf and drunk yourself!

This hotel was the pits - the furniture, the fittings, the walls - everything was cheap except the price for a night. The guests across the hall could easily be heard as they showered or bathed, heard to a degree that kept you awake. Puzzling noise and all because of paper thin walls. Breakfast was cheap and unimaginative, especially for somewhere as rich in great produce as the Yarra Valley. Wifi did not reach the room, and the wifi password was not handed out - meaning you had to search for the owners who mysteriously disappeared after dark to a whereabouts not told to guests. There was certainly no invitation - "to give us a shout if you need anything", it certainly felt more like stay the hell away and don't disturb our after hours peace - we are only taking your money under the guise of running a hotel! Good luck if you choose to stay

We stayed in July with the new owners having just taken over a few weeks ago They tried hard and were quite hospitable. Unfortunately a wedding party came back and partied all night and the owners did not ask them to turn the music down. So much for a nice night away without the kids and a good sleep. We left at 130 in the morning. I called once to discuss the situation then a second time, and they haven't called back, thus I suggest they don't really care about us, the customer. Stay here at your own risk is my opinion, in fact don't risk it.

We stayed there 24/9 and thought it was properly priced for a large 1 bed unit. It came with bacon & eggs and the owner was very helpful. After having lived in Lilydale I knew of the place and location. Thought the washing machine in the unit was handy a cloths horse inside would have been a nice touch or even better a cloths drier. The back yard looked tired and needs a clean up, but overall it met our expectations.

We needed a bed and breakfast on a trip to the area and picked the Melba Lodge as it looked different from your average wine area hotel, in other words you were not going to be ripped off because of the location. We were realy happy with the place, the price was great considering breakfast was included the rooms were comfortable and the owners were great. We had a large trailer attached to our vehicle and were reluctanct to unhitch it to go in to Yarra for a meal so the owner offered to take us in to town in his vehicle, its rare to get that sort of service these days. We will definetly stay there agian if we visit the area.

We were part of a group of ten (five couples) who stayed four nights in May, 2014, just prior to the lodge management changing hands the following month. The place was adequate for our needs, with good breakfasts, comfortable (but small) rooms, and a great billiard room with adjacent useable lounge/social areas. The place was, however, a bit "tired" inside and in need of a facelift; also, the gravel driveway and rear gravel parking area were in pretty poor condition. The new owners will need to spend a bit of money to bring it up to a better standard.

Booked a room through bookin.com to have a weekend away with my Fiancée, my best friend and her husband. My Fiancée and I had never stayed in a B&B before and to have just a bedroom with an en suite took some getting used to (But that is just a personal preference, as we usually stay in larger hotel rooms with a kitchenette or lounge area etc). The owner was very helpful and nice. We were mostly out all day on a winery tour and came back in the evening. Pros: Cooked big breakfast and lovely selection of pre-cut fresh fruits Close to wineries Very clean (I get hay fever so I know if a place isn't clean) Pool table Warm in winter Bar in pool room Friendly service Cons: Paper thin walls Poor sleep both mornings due to being woken up by breakfast being set-up at 6:45am-7am in the dining room, other guests exiting premises very loudly at 5:45am (for hot air ballooning) and someone using the spa room at 6am which we shared a wall with (Room 6). Not being able to consume wine bought from the local winery that day in the common room Jets didn’t work in our spa in our room Toilet paper didn't get replenished when our room was serviced on the second day Unsure about if we could stay up later in the TV room – didn't want to disturb guests so we hid in our room Tip: Would have been nice to have a private bar fridge in room for perishables we purchased instead of one bar fridge in the small share kitchenette for guests.

We stayed in the cottage attached to the Lodge. Very private and quiet. Breakfast was provided with the cottage and topped up everyday. Fresh food everyday. We were very impressed. The cottage was comfortable and very clean. We have always found this place to be booked out and this time we were lucky to get a booking. Well worth waiting. We will be back.
