This has been an annual vacation event for 5 familes for the past 4 years...and it will continue to be so! We have been staying at the main house just yards from the Frio River for the past 3 years. The accomodations are perfect for a rustic and comfortable mini-vacation. We spend our entire trip either down in the water... More

Grandkids from 2 years through 10, older kids, 30-4o and grandparents (age unavailable) all had grand time. Morning breakfast on the deck, kayaking, relaxing, lying to each other and enjoying the river all day. Steaks and horseshoes for dinner on the back deck in the evening and then a little beer to accompany the lightning display at night time. Peaceful,... More

We love these cabins! We stayed in one of the Original 6, Cabin #4, which we loved. Upon arrival, we loved the setting of cabins. Surrounded by lots of trees and birds. Everything inside and outside was very clean, and the cabin had everything we needed to be comfortable for our two night stay. In front of the cabin, there... More

I have been coming up to the Frio River Cabins (Don and Lisa's place) for at least 15 years. I come several times throughout the year because I love to photograph flowers and wildlife during the different seasons. I have stayed in the "original 1-6" cabins as well as "7 & 10" and love them all. The Yaklins do a... More

We stayed at the end of Feb. for about a week. The water was too cold for swimming but that didn't take away from our fun. We went fishing, hiking, horseback riding. We had camp fires every night and best of all we got to eat dinner outside without any flies or Mosquitos. My family can't wait to go in... More

We stayed in Cabin 1 of the 'original six' in May 2012 and were pleasantly surprised. The cabins are very rustic - basically fancy camping, so as long as your expectations are correct, they are great. They were clean and the grounds were perfect. There was a nice big lawn which would be great for toddlers/kiddos to play. It's a... More

Stayed at the Frio River Cabins for 5 days and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The Yaklins are very hospitable and are prompt to answer any questions or concerns. You won't meet a more friendly family. Stayed in cabin #7 which is removed from any other cabins. We like the remoteness, however, there are many other cabins in which to choose.... More

We stayed in Cabin 2 for 3 nights at the end of September. Cabin was clean and had everything you need. The manager sent a list of things you might need to bring which was very helpful. We grilled out every night on the grill right off our porch and had a fire in the fire ring which was beside... More

I visited this place back in the 70's, was introduced to it by my uncle, I was 9 years old, maybe 10, way back then the cabins were very simple, I slept on a cot, played in the river, caught a huge catfish, was there twice when I was little, and am proudly saying that I am going back, this... More
