I agree with everything sooz866 says. We visited in early September and paid high season rates. The hotel is owned and run by the same outfit that lets most of the cottages on the island, ie the local estate, so most visitors to the island have no choice but to be in its hands. The hotel shows signs of an... More

Came to Colonsay for a relaxing break. Enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel was overall very comfortable and relaxing. Bedroom was clean and well presented and the lounge and bar areas warm and cosy. We enjoyed the food very much and if you go you must try the oysters! All the staff we met were friendly, courteous and helpful.... More

we've stayed on lots of the islands off the west coast of Scotland, and were really looking forward to our stay on Colonsay this year. The public areas of the hotel are very nice and our room on first inspection was comfortable and simply furnished (as per the hotel's description). Unfortunately, we found the room to be very dusty, the... More

Colonsay is an amazing island with some beautiful scenery. We spent two fantastic days walking and cycling. It is a shame that at the end of the day all we had to go back to was the Colonsay Hotel. Yes, it is a quaint hotel but there are hundreds of quaint hotels around Scotland that provide a much nicer and... More

Fab location on small island, lovely colonial style new England rooms, friendly staff and great rooms - lovely food although if I had one small criticism the portions are a bit on the smallish side. Must visit island for a restful time, greta for couples. More

We did enjoy this hotel however there were a number of issues that affected the quality of our stay Booking was difficult as their phones, early in the year when i was trying to finalise details, were not answered and emails were not responded to for many days. During our stay the weather was cold, wet and windy however apart... More

Really lucky to stay during glorious weather but may have found it too quiet if it had been wet. As we were out all day long exploring sunny Colonsay in all her glory. Cable Bay room had lovely comfortable bed with down quilt & pillows. Slept really well as so peaceful Tea & coffee & kettle in room. No TV... More

I was lucky to have the oppotunity to stay at the hotel, at no extra charge, due to double booking at the backpacker house. The hotel has contemporary style but retains charm & character. The staff were friendly and helpful, and as a solo female traveller, I felt very safe and relaxed and have recommended the hotel and island highly... More
