Really a lovely family, great food, warm and cozy rooms - a really haven after we fled the nearby CHESTER HOUSE INN after the owner, Robert, screamed anti-semitic epithets at my girlfriend and I! Sprawling green lawn, friendly locals, dog-friendly, the Stone Heart Inn and Tavern is really great.

While looking for a place to stay during a big event many hotels were taken but I felt I had stumbled upon some very good luck when I found Stone Hearth Inn. The public spaces are very rustic but beautiful, it really looks like you are stepping into someones home (Which really, you are!). I live in a Victorian House... More

The food is good but overpriced, the service not so great, and the rooms are dirty beyond repair. In one of the rooms there's insulation hanging out of the wall, the cracks in the floor eat anything you could try to sweep up, it must be so frustrating and impossible for the maids, I think they get it as clean... It's October in VT - 40's overnight -yet these owners won't put the heat on-they gave us a space heater for the room! They said it's too early to turn on the heat - but if you run a place for guests to stay and feel comfortable you better put some heat on- Although the bed and sheets were comfortable... More

After being overly stressed the last few days from work, etc; we decided to get in the car and just 'drive north' up 91 for a few hours and find something relaxing. We were directed to the Stone Hearth by chance after stopping at a local beer/wine specialty shop. We could not have asked for anything better! The staff was... More

We recently dined at this local's favorite spot and were delighted with warm historic Vermont atmosphere and a relaxing delicious meal. Our waitstaff was so much fun and the owners are so sweet. We especially loved the house salad with a simple maple balsamic dressing and crumbled local goat cheese. The special 'Blackened Salmon with spinach-mushroom Risotto was devine! What... More

We stayed for three nights. The price was average for a small room at high season - $158/night. The best part was that the bed was very comfy. The walls were so thin that the people coming and going on the floor below us sounded like they were in our room. When we got back to our room on the... More

We didn't stay but instead stopped in for dinner. The food was nothing special. Most dishes could be made in your kitchen at home, and made better. The service was terribly slow. Horribly slow. Forget getting your check. We waited over 30 mins to get ours. Almost walked out.

We stayed for two nights and used our second day for excursions to various towns around Chester. Hosts Francy and Sheldon offered a spot to store our motorcycle overnight to keep it out of view and out of the weather. After an evening of excellent food and drink in their tavern, we ended up riding out in the AM with... More
