My husband and I stayed over the holiday weekend hoping to enjoy peaceful Vermont and some snowshoeing. Sadly, we couldn't sleep because the neighbor to our room in the guest house kept their television blaring all night and yelled at each other over the noise. We later learned that these were not guests, but boarders who had been living there... More

I'm really sorry the guests in the room beside you disturbed your stay. When you told me of the incident the second morning at breakfast I apologized and offered to change your room. We had one room available in the Manor House that weekend. Once I was aware of the problem, which your husband downplayed, the noisy guests were asked... More

We decided to book our trip last minute to catch some of the snow that was in the forecast. The Inn was a cute antique house. The owner was very nice and incredibly knowledgeable about the area. She loves Vermont and was very helpful to us since we are not from the area. We quickly made friends with the house... More

Suffice it to say, I read reviews prior to going to this Inn but gave it the benefit of the doubt. Hosts very nice but the place was just as disappointing as previous reviews have indicated...maybe even worse....wouldn't take much to make the place presentable for the public, sweeping the decks, mowing the lawns, picking up the busted hot tub... The Silas Griffith inn is wonderful, its such a charming place. Yes its being restored. These things take time, especially considering the inn is well over 100 yrs old. Cathy the inn keeper makes everyone feel like they are part of the family. The inn has gorgeous views of the countryside, what a peaceful place. It's perfectly located near many... More

The only reason I checked off 4 and not 5 circles above is because the Silas Griffith Inn, is still a work in Progress. Catherine and Brian have done a lot and are still working to improve the Inn. It is NOT due to any issues that I had while there. I cannot wait to see the Inn after they... More

This place is gross and filthy! Our room was dirty and dusty. There were cob webs on the mantel and all the brick-a-brack. The dust was a half inch think! The whole time we were here, there was a dixie cup behind our night stand. Our room was never vacuumed. The bedding and sheets were stained, smelly, and dirty. The... More

Kathy and Brian, the proprietors of Silas Griffith Inn go out of their way to assist where they can. I chose the location because friends were camping at the nearby Emerald Lake facility - and I am not big on sleeping on the floor so chose this B&B 5-6 miles away. We also had my friend's elderly mother who has... More

The innkeepers were very friendly and helpful, but the inn was unbelievably run down and dirty. The inn is need of a serious renovation. The stairs did not look safe and there was bird poop and paint chips on the deck (which easily could have been swept off). Our room smelled musty and was not clean. The bathroom was clearly... More

The Silas Griffith Inn in Danby, VT has a story to tell. Kathy & Brian Preble, innkeepers for the past six years, are quite knowledgeable about Silas Griffith and his house which has become a 10 room inn and 35 seat restaurant. We enjoyed hearing the historical facts about Mr. Griffith, who was a true entrepreneur in Danby (and influencial... More

We chose this inn because of its location & the number of positive reviews we read. However we were very disappointed. The innkeepers are very nice but the room was dark, dingy & dirty. There is so much clutter in the public rooms & restaurant that one can see it would take a whole team of Molly Maids to get... More
