a wonderful place, a family run business, kind staff and friends who have been there for many years. Sadly this is the end...due to the economy the Highland Lodge has taken it's toll and closed in October. We locals are sad to loose such a vibrant place that has been part of this community for so long. But also wishes... More

We have stayed here over 20 times as a family. It is "heaven". The setting is a tiny village with a general store about 1 1/2 miles away and the lodge overlooks a pristine spring fed lake (Caspian Lake). The summer camps (homes) around the lake originated in the 1890s when academics from Philadelphia primarily settled there for their summers.... More

The lodge was wonderful. The people were very helpful and kind. Our room was cozy and beautiful. The food was included and was excellent. The skiing was the best I have done in a while. Great trails and great snow!

I had been spending hours on TripAdvisor trying to find a place to take my wife and kids (19 and 17) for a quick getaway. I wanted a B&B setting, but not too cozy for comfort. Having Nordic skiing nearby was part of the must-have list. Highland Lodge could not have been more perfect. The rooms of this classic New... More

Our family of four spent a week at Highland Lodge, about a mile up the road from Greensboro village, this winter, in one of the cabins on the hillside above the main building. Most of their cabins are summer-only and not habitable in the winter, but a few are. Ours had two bedrooms, a bath, a kitchenette, and a living... More

These are not the best groomed trails we've been on, but the overall length of the trails, the varied nature of the trails and spectacular scenery makes this our favorite XC skiing site (prefer to Lapland and to Garnet Hill -- even though we love both of these too). In addition, the food and rooms were great. Also more cost... More

My wife and I visited here before we were married and returned for our honeymoon. We now return every year with our children now 17 and 12 (so that's 25 years of coming here). When the kids were little they went to the kids play program where they were occupied from the conclusion of breakfast to noon. They loved it... More

Our family first stayed a the Lodge over thirty years ago - it rained for 10 days out of 14 and we all cried (except our dad) when we left because we couldn't wait to go back the next summer. The third-generation, family-owned Lodge and its cottages sits on a pretty hill above the lake. Caspian Lake is the most... More

As a refugee from the East Coast who has been living in California for the last fifty years, I wanted a New England experience. So when I got a chance to go to the Highland Lodge and talk about Wallace Stegner, the western writer who spent his summers in Greensboro, I jumped at it last fall. Late September was perfect.... I told everyone about my trip. Part of me did not want to because I wanted to keep it as my secret getaway :) This place is a bit of a drive and well worth it. The folks there REALLY go out of their way to make your stay a joy. I have some dietary concerns and they were more... More
