Since the hotel was double booked and we actually never stayed there, I have no idea how the rooms are. We had to stay next door (Cliff view) which is NOT a place I can recommend (no restaurant area and by far the hardest things I have ever slept on - yes, "things", not "beds"). However the owner is a... More

I came to Bongbao in Koh Chang Island because I was interested in diving. Scuba Dawgs seemed to be the best choice and they own Cliff Cottage so I booked a room with climate unit. Good choice, excellent really. It is a quiet hangout away from the more crowded places of the island. There's a good crowd from all over... More

If you are looking for a quiet place to be for a couple of days, this is the place to come to especially if you are on a low budget. It is a bit far off from the busy areas but it is worth staying there if all you want to do is chill and enjoy the days in the... More

As a writer in need of an escape from Chiang Mai's bad air, I've just returned from one month at Cliff Cottage, Ko Chang. It's at the quiet end of the island and caters to backpackers, divers & independent travelers. Inspiring, comfortable, affordable; three basic qualities. Shaun, the inn-keeper-proprietor is a kind and caring man. He made certain I had... More

I have stayed here on numerous occasions and if you enjoy finding the real Thailand then you will find it here ! But be warned this isn't the place if you want to party or be loud But if you're looking for something that's relaxing , quite , good value for money and a place where you can leave you... More

We stayed at Cliff Cottage for 5 nights and all I can say, it was definitely worth it! Be careful though, if you are not a backpacker traveling on budget and your accommodation priorities are to have air-conditioned room or beach within a walking distance, then the place is not for you. Don't worry, the are tons of other places... More

As befits its name, this is a place on a cliff. Still, there's a small beach with great snorkeling and Cliff Cottage has kayaks for anyone's use. A ten minute walk along a level path through Thai yards with chickens, and then you're on the town pier where there are incredible restaurants, shopping and a couple of big boats for... More

But the baguettes..... take it with a smile ( sorry Shaun;-) Everything else is a joy. The beautiful staff. The basic bungalows on the hill if you´re on a budget. The aircon rooms, if you spend a bit more. The view. The Shaun. The dogs. The Jack; scuba-instructor...... We stayed for a month and enjoyed all of this resort. They... More

I arrived really late at night without a booking, and it was really full, but Shaun (the owner) managed to move some stuff around and get me and some other people rooms for the night. I had intended to go to a different island the next day but ended up staying for my whole trip. I got my Padi open... More

One of my favourite stops on a ten week trip through Southeast Asia. For about $13 a night I had a quaint cottage just steps from the water. Sunrise and sunset are perfect here. The lounge area is great for relaxing in a hammock or swing chair, meeting other travellers or grabbing a cold beer after a day of excursions... More

BOOK FOR 3 AND STAY 4TH NIGHT FREE. The way Thailand used to be. Cliff Cottage is a secluded and picturesque resort. The new wooden bar / restaurant is built over the sea in a private cove. There are very few places so picturesque. It's a great place to relax. If you need to be entertained and like the noisy bars then Cliff Cottage is NOT for you. The bar area and many bungalows offer a great place to relax and watch the sunset. Close to the Bang Bao pier nicely located for those seeking to travel on to the other islands, take boat trips or try snorkeling and diving. ... more   less
