just returned from 4 days at sun mountain lodge. things need to be perked up....especially some of the staff.....as they look tired and edgy. the lodge is still lovely but the poor bed and lack of a TV for the eve news wore a little thin. the food was below average for a hefty price. there is alot to do... We returned after more than 15 years since our last visit. The drive from any direction is spectacular if the weather is nice, and it was spectacular this visit. Once settled in the lodge the views are equally spectacular from most rooms. There is a great deal of available outdoor recreation on this mountaintop property, hiking trails, nature viewing, a... Hello Malice6, and thank you for your comments. I replace the beds on the average every 5-7 years depending upon occupancy, etc. The beds we purchase are designed and made for us specifically and take a bit longer to get to us. During the past couple of years we have changed the beds in all of the cabins, Robinson and... More

We recently spent two nights here and I wish I could’ve just moved in and stayed it was so nice. Our upstairs room in the Gardner building was very comfy and had an expansive, beautiful view of the mountains and valley. The walls must be thick, because I know there was a toddler in the room next to us and... More

We live about 5 hours west of here, and came for a mini-trip for 5 days last June. I'm not big on tiny towns and nature activities like some others, but Winthrop really is worth seeing. The entire downtown has an "old western" theme, but surprisingly some nice restaurants and modern, stylish shops. Sherri's sweet shop is also worth checking... More

We have stayed at Sun Mountain Lodge many times over the years and have never been disappointed. The setting is absolutely beautiful and the rooms and grounds are the same. The deer visit every morning and evening and you can watch them from your window or deck. The setting sun against the backdrop of snow covered mountains caps off what... More

Thank you so very much for your kind review. I just wanted to take a moment to share a little about the food pricing: To ensure the freshest and best foods available we purchase as much as possible from our local organic farms and ranches. For instance, the chicken dishes use chickens from Crown S Ranch in Winthrop who grow... More

To start, my Wife and I are amateur foodies from Seattle and we give our compliments to the Hotels Exec Chef for providing world-class breakfasts and dinners at The Dining Room and unequivocally fantastic lunches and drinks at The Wolf Creek Bar & Grill. We ventured out to the town of Winthrop and with the exception of the local brewery... More

Thank you or your very kind and candid review. I am so terribly sorry regarding your massages. Yes, the therapists are "freelance" but that cannot be used as an excuse. One of the therapists is certainly new and is now undergoing more training. I think from the start we made a mistake in not fully understanding your needs and wants... More

My husband and I just spent 2 nights at Sun Mountain. What a quiet, lovely place. There are no TVs in the rooms, so bring your hiking shoes and books. If you really want a place to get close to nature and to relax, this is the place!

I have been to this Lodge at least a dozen times as I lived in Okanogan County for quite a while. I've stayed in all types of their rooms including three times in their nicest Mount Robinson rooms. I've been to the dining room as well as the bar many times also. Unfortunately, I'm seeing things decline there which is... More

Dear KS: I appreciate your comments and for your loyalty to Sun Mountain. One of the unfortunate but understandable aspects of Trip Advisor is that I am unable to determine when you were here and take necessary corrective actions. I checked to see if anyone in April had lodged a food complaint and could not find one. We will always... More

We loved this resort. We were met by the Manager and guided to the elevators. We were only there for an afternoon and overnight but it felt like we had discovered heaven in the middle of nowhere on top of a mountain. It was refreshing to have no technology, tvs or people all consumed by their 'devices'. A breath of... More

Sun Mountain Lodge is a year-round resort, however it is a particularly wonderful winter destination thanks to the ski trails, snow shoe trails and other winter fun (e.g. sleigh rides) The Sun Mountain spa has a great selection of services and a calming ambiance. The food in The Dining Room is expensive so make dinner the main event of an... More
