If your idea of a vacation is to relive your college nights of trying to sleep thru the party downstairs, this is your spot. Service was very good. Food was average and overpriced for the quality. This was ok as an 'experience' but likely not to be repeated. More

We reserved our rooms a few weeks in advance and called a week before to find out that someone else had reserved our room. Food is terrible and overpriced. More

great view of the Mighty Mississippi, standards and also unusual surprising dishes (ahi tuna, walnut burger, local perch!), laid back, great drinks and wine lise (organice, yeh), hotlel is spartan but a decent bed and Dirt Cheap for the location. three thumbs up! More

We arrived by boat to find that our Kingfisher rooms were roughly 2 miles from the hotel. We did have van service, but that ended at 9:00 pm. We opted to stay in town and had to walk in the hot humid weather. We also asked about van service in the morning from our rooms to the marina and they... More

The "European style" rooms (euphemism for "bathroom down the hall") are clean and simple and at $40 per night, an excellent value. Nearby Perrot State Park and Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge (over 6,000 acres) are great places to explore and get lost. The restaurant offers a number of healthy options from Walnut Burgers to seared Ahi Tuna (YUM!). The saloon... More

This trip I stayed in the rooms at the Inn. They are simple rooms. Most have an old wire spring, soft matress full size bed. I found a way to position myself, sort of diagonal like a hammock, for a decent night sleep. However, I couldn't have imagined another person in the bed with me. There is at least one... More

Stayed here for fun after visiting relatives in Winona across the river. We were attracted by the historic aspect and the live music. Both far exceeded expectations. A couple of cocktails while enjoying the great performance, then a lovely time in the jacuzzi equipped beautifully restored room down the block. The room was spotless and well appointed, everything worked, including... More

Spur of the moment found us crossing the state, with our Golden Retriever, to the LaCrosse area and to cruise the Mississippi that we have only done before by boat. We looked at it is boating in a BMW. The Kingfishers welcomed dogs, which is the only reason we stayed there. What a great surprise. Not that the rooms are... More

I called to book the room at the last minute. All of the rooms in the hotel were already booked. I opted to try the Kingfisher rooms down by the river. This room had a private 3/4 bath with shower. It was clean, though the shower curtain had a little mold at the bottom. I am guessing humidity can be... More

Just returned from a weekend at this place. While there was a certain amount of "historic charm" in staying here, the problems outweighed the charm. There is a bar and outside deck associated with this hotel. The bar and deck do not "close" until the wee hours of the morning, 2AM to be exact. The rooms are right above the... More
