I stayed here two nights in late April and had an enjoyable stay after spending a few hot days on the Kona coast. I found this to be a good budget hotel, by which I mean low cost, clean, and friendly, but not fancy. In this case, the property is old, but has a certain charm that makes in endearing.... More

Very cozy. Has a warm feel to the place. Comfortable. VERY CLEAN! Love our corner room. Old Hawaii Charm. Kohala Village Inn, is in the heart of Hawi. Although the restaurant is closed. The Inn is still in walking distance to the post office and grocery store. Down on the street is Kohala Coffee mill. Great breakfast items, try "the... More

Stayed here one night and as has been mentioned before it is the only game in town. It isn't terrible but nothing to write home about either. The rooms do have a must smell and airing them out does help. Our shower was fine and the place was generally clean (so it is not "dirty" just musty". We paid about... More

There are not many lodging options in Hawi. If you stay further south to Kamuela or Waikaloa the options are numerous. The beauty and quiet of Hawi makes this area appealing . We spent two nights with extended family members taking several rooms within the lodge. Our room was simply but adequately equipped. Each room appeared to be slightly varied,... More

We were on our honeymoon and we ended up getting a corner room upstairs. The view was great, we could see the ocean. If you're looking for a B & B this place is great, if you're looking for a hotel this isn't for you. The owners are great and the breakfast is simple but filling.

This inn was the only blemish on an almost perfect vacation. It is rundown, sparsely furnished, noisy, and the inn keepers were really only interested in their other business - the zip line. It seems they saw hotel guests as an inconvenience. We didn't even have hot water for our morning shower. No apology was offered - just the excuse... More

Although they have spruced it up this is an older place with not the best soundproofing. This means your experience will be dependent on who else is staying here. In our case, some guy decided to play his guitar and sing loudly and off key (broody Pink Floyd) in the common area after midnight. There is no onsite management so... More

I agree with everybody else: the rooms are old, it's slightly musty, it's noisy, the showers don't drain well and there's no a/c - and that's what my wife and I love about it (except for the shower part). The location is perfect - you can cut through to the coffee shop on the main road. It's priced appropriately and... More

There are few historic plantation style hotels left on Hawaii island. These were built to give travelers a clean, affordable, no frills place to stay. And that's what you'll get here. A rarity in todays amenity driven, expensive tourist centered economy of HAwaii. You won't get spiritual chants & massages, a barrage of TV channels, room service options, healing stones... More

The hotel is a blast from the past, but it is the only real choice in Hawi, which is a worthwhile stop if you are exploring the island. This is my second stay at the hotel -- I was here for 1 night in 2006 and this time stayed 2 nights. The rooms are admittedly dated, though linens are up-to-date... More
