We stayed in the Mauna Loa room at Volcano Village Lodge in the Volcano area on the Big Island of Hawaii at the beginning of January 2012. There were four of us in the room and we fitted comfortably. This is truly a treasure in paradise. The resort is tranquil, beautiful, tasteful, comfortable and relaxing. They are so considerate in their... More

Although the cabin itself was REALLY nice, my experience wasn't great. First, the day I arrived there was a torrential downpour. I arrived later than I had hoped and in the dark, around 7pm. Staff had already left. So, I had to grab the key myself and find my unit. It was dark, rainy, lots of trees and very tropical.... More

My wife and I stayed four nights in the Hale Kilauea unit at Volcano Village Lodge. My first impression when entering was this is extremely small (and it was). I was told it is the smallest unit at Volcano Village Lodge. First the good: Very clean, comfortable bed, situated in a beautiful environment; nice fireplace; good, low fat/low carb breakfasts;... Aloha and thank you for sharing your experience at the Lodge. We are happy to hear from you and find it unfortunate that you did not fully enjoy your Hale Kilauea room experience. We haven't had complaints about the lack of dresser space, but because of your comments we will be looking to replace the current Asian Style dresser with... More

All-in-all this was a nice place to stay. The Lodge consists of about 5 or 6 separate buildings linked together by tropical rainforest pathways. Basically you have your own cabin/hut. It was a great location within 5 minutes (drive) to the Volcano National Park. This is a bed and breakfast, with an interesting twist. To allow privacy and people to... More

Our only mistake was only booking one night here. We were greeted and settled in by a charming Vietnamese woman who made our stay perfect. We enjoyed the peace and solitude after having been in a huge beach front hotel for the previous 3 days. Breakfast was prepared in advance, the table was set, and all we did was heat... More

Stayed here largely on Trip Advisor reviews and was not disappointed. The Mauna Kea room was great - large, very nicely furnished, fireplace, many windows surrounded by the rain forest. Really a beautiful, secluded spot and only minutes away from Volcanoes Natl Park. Only minor problem was that the bathroom adjoined the bathroom of another unit and there was minimal... More

Thank you very much for picking Volcano Village Lodge during your vacation on the Big Island. We appreciate your comments and are glad that you had an enjoyable time at our unique rainforest lodge only minutes away from the famous Volcano National Park. When we read about the sound proofing issue we decided to give it immediate attention. We hope... More

We just returned after hiking the volcano and staying 3 nights in the Mauna Loa room. The place is better in person than in the pictures - furniture arranged differently. It is a large luxury log cabin, great bathroom. Wood everywhere, nice books and artwork. Spotless. Room heated up nicely (almost too much) on the cold nights. Lots of goodies... More

This is a small (maybe six cabins) set in the rain forest very near the entrance to the Volcano’s National Park. I recommend anyone visiting the area to stay two nights here if you can. Very peaceful and close to the park More

We stayed here for one night, but wish we could have stayed much longer. Location was perfect (5 minutes to the park). We stayed in the Mauna Loa suite which was ideal for our family of 4. My daughter had her own bedroom, and my 11 year old son loved sleeping in the loft. Having breakfast ready for us was... More

I feel in love with this quaint lodge in the rainforest and wish I could escape here for a month away from life. The way the rooms are connected via raised walkways reminds me of images I've had of rainforest lodges since I was a young girl. I saw Volcano Village Lodge listed in Brides Magazine and read about this... More
