What a gorgeous place to stay after the long drive to Hana. The condo is RIGHT on the beach with views framed by palm trees. This was by far our CLEANEST accomodations on Maui. The staff service was impeccable. We stayed in unit #1 the first night. A large 1 bedroom with a full kitchen, spacious bathroom and excellent lanai... more

We stayed in a 1 bedroom unit (#4) for 2 nights in Feb. 2010. The unit is right on a black sand beach - a bit rocky for swimming but there were some boogie boarders out one day. Our unit wasn't super updated - my inlaws had unit 1 which was quite new. Both units have a large screened lanai,... more

I did not know what to expect from a place that was individually owned but operated like a hotel. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the various units. There was diversity but consistency. All units had basic kitchen supplies and it almost felt like being at home. The refrigerator in our unit was very large and clean. Everything else was... more

We stayed here for 3 nights in room #2 on the second floor. The room was decorated with a Hawaiian flair and had a large lanai. The view of the small black sand beach in front of the condo was very beautiful. We enjoyed having our breakfasts in the morning and drinks in the evening on the lanai. The bed... more

The best part of Hana is getting there. I would recommend renting a small, compact car to do the winding road. There are tour companies that do the drive for you, but they have larger "shuttle" buses (vans). Once in Hana, there are only two grocery stores. Not a lot of options for fresh food. If you are planning on... more

Didn’t really like the look of the only room available (1 BR #3) online but the view of the ocean hooked us in. We checked in early evening so we didn’t catch the view until the next morning. What a lovely view of the sunrise. The room has a huge lanai, but it definitely needs some sort of privacy screen... more

We had a wonderful time at Hana Kai! It was fully equipped with all kitchenware and a beautiful view of the black sand beach, which is literally outside your back door. We walked over to the Hana Hotel and were immediately digusted with the yuppie attitudes and unnaturalness of the whole place. They own nearly everything in Hana and act... more

My mom and I traveled to Maui for the first time in late October. Stayed in Ka'anapali for most of the trip because we were attending a conference there. Decided, on a whim, to spend the last night in Hana because we didn't want to drive the Hana Hwy roundtrip in one day. Boy, was that the right thing to... more

Stayed a few nights at Hana Kai, and wasn't terribly blown away. Unit was very pretty (we were in Unit 1, which is beachfront and on the corner), but was kind of grimy. I know most condos near the beach get a little sticky, but this was a bit worse. Our feet turned black after walking around barefoot for a... more

The condo (which is owned and rented separately from the front desk, by the owners) is in a great location in Hana with a beautiful view of Hana Bay. We fell asleep to the sound of the ocean each night. We BBQ'd every night using the "communal" BBQ, although we were the only ones we saw using it during our... more
