Heaven knows what the owners--currently in Vancouver--would have done. I believed this to be a lovely and welcoming place, and it was well situated for my purposes, so late yesterday evening I attempted to book there. Via email, I asked about the use of pesticides, air fresheners and such, since I have certain chemical sensitivities, and I was very pleased... More

What a wonderful find! We had young children in a quiet and very well appointed room. Staff were most accommodating and attentive with an air mattress (for child #3). A boon for us was the 24 hour a day access to the kitchen and all sorts of food (yogurt, fruit, pastries, bread, juice) and we were free to use it... More

Our school had a four day visit to San Francisco and families had the option of booking their own accommodations or staying with the group. We chose the Inn 1890 for its proximity to Golden Gate Park, and felt it was worth it to splurge a bit on a B&B. It ended up being a great bargain for us, since... More

My husband had open heart surgery at UCSF. I wanted a place close enough to walk to the campus. I searched the web and decided to take the long stay room at Inn 1890. This property is a historic house near Golden Gate Park and the very colorful lower Haight area. It is a great old Victorian that has been... More

From our first contact with this wonderful B&B to our final farewell, we felt really welcomed and at ease. Our room (number 4) was great, essentially a two-bedroom suite with in-room bath, kitchenette and working fireplace. The location, on a quiet street near Golden Gate Park, was perfect for us. As seems to be the case everywhere in S.F., public... More

One thing that stands out about staying at Inn 1890 is the small comforts and the generosity of the establishment. It really feels like you are at home. You can use the internet and print pages for free. You have access to a fridge full of food in the main kitchen night and day. The rates are a steal for... More

The Inn 1890 is one block from Golden Gate Park and Haight Street which provides great access to a number of key tourist destinations, as well as busses that run direct to downtown in about 10-15 minutes. Despite its proximity to these areas, its very quiet. We had room 15, which is on the top floor and has its own... More
